Roofs in particular are an ideal subject to capture with drones as traditional methods not only present health and safety risks but can be very difficult to obtain. Instead of sharing a workflow to help you streamline your next drone project we want to talk about the emerging drone industry 🚁 Believe it or not, the drone industry is only 10 (maybe 15) years old! So we find ourselves in a situation where some parts of the industry instantly see the value in drone data, and other parts simply do not. And we just want to say.... That's ok! 👌 Almost every significant technology that we use today (phones, internet, GPS) went through a similar adoption curve before they became mainstream. If you are early in an industry, you can easily see the value but it can be challenging when others do not see the value (yet). In these times, it's more important than ever to band together and champion the technology. Decades from now, wouldn't it great to say you saw the potential before others did? Why capturing structured data is so important for drone programmes!💡 When we think about capturing data using drones, it is easy to think that the drone simply needs to be captured for clients or internal stakeholders, and it's often their requirements that take priority over everything else. Nothing wrong with that! But there are 2 other users of drone data that are often ignored: 1. Other Software (CAD / BIM) 2. AI As we enter the age of digitization, automation and AI, it's inevitable that all captured data will flow from one software to another and be used in a number of different ways. If we work with the above in mind, it becomes increasingly important that all captured data is CAD-compatible, BIM-compatible and ultimately AI-compatible. By doing these in a structured way, we can ensure that we are not only adding value to the specific survey or inspection to which the drone was commissioned, but also to all other future surveys and inspections, where AI would be aiding in the inspection. By making your drone data is CAD, BIM and AI friendly, every inspection adds incrementally new value all future inspections! #drones #AI #BIM #integrations
