❤️ Last month, we joined our rail colleagues at London's Waterloo station to celebrate the Windrush generation. 👫🏿 This June marked 76 years since the HMT Empire Windrush arrived in Britain, bringing around 500 passengers from the Caribbean and steering a new era of multiculturalism and diversity. 🚂 The Windrush generation's immense contributions have shaped our railways and enriched our communities and this year's event was, once again, a heartfelt tribute filled with inspiring stories of perseverance. 🙏🏽 At GBRTT we strive to embrace diversity and inclusion in every sense and we would like to thank everyone who attended and made this celebration memorable. ❤️ We will continue to recognise the invaluable contributions of the Windrush generation, today and always. #WindrushDay #GBR #Railwayfamily #Diversity #Inclusion

New tools are helping operational decision-makers with a better, more detailed understanding of the impact that different financial choices have across the whole system. In today’s blog, #GBRTT’s Lead Finance Director John Gerrard delves into… ✅ How the team went about the complex task of collating and presenting vast amounts of publicly-available financial data in a user-friendly way ✅ The strong cross-industry collaboration it took to bring the tool to life ✅ The sorts of questions it allows operational decision-makers to ask (and receive answers to) about their local railway 📈 Sharing this tool widely among industry teams is already helping to rail colleagues make better, more informed decisions.

Introducing GBRTT’s latest Commercial Partnerships Sounding Board! Earlier this year, we asked for volunteers to join the new cohort - thank you to everyone who took the time to apply. 👍 We welcome Shoosmiths LLP, Freeths LLP, Eversheds Sutherland (International) LLP, Arcadis, D2, Ricardo Rail UK, Ethos Farm, Softwire, Jellybean Consultancy, Weston Analytics, kokpits and FastJP Ltd and look forward to working with you over the coming months. We worked with the Office of Rail and Road (ORR) to ensure an impartial selection process, resulting in an equal representation of large and small-to-medium sized enterprises, as well 40%+ being companies led by women or minorities. ⭐ Bringing the industry together through this Sounding Board supports our ambitions for a simpler, better railway by increasing shared understanding and vision between rail clients and supply chain. “Reform will break down many of the real barriers, but we can begin breaking down some of the perceived barriers to pulling together as one railway in the here-and-now.” That was the message to rail’s finance community at an engaging summit in Birmingham yesterday – the third of #GBRTT's cross-industry away days for finance leaders. Attendees joined lively discussions about… ✅ Business planning – getting better alignment and closer decision making between track and train ✅ Track and train collaboration – including opportunities to join up and empower local teams and focus on reducing the net subsidy of the railway ✅ Optimising the timetable – unpicking how planning decisions can support revenue growth and improve performance ✅ Finance teams of the future – thinking about the skills and culture that finance teams will need, to best support the railway through change in the years ahead 💡The big takeaway from the day was that finance directors have an important role to play in helping the industry to find solutions that benefit customers and improve our financial position. Our Lead Finance Director John Gerrard, Culture and Engagement Programme Manager Jodie Pocock and the wider GBRTT team want to extend our thanks to the c120 colleagues who joined, and to our speakers Alex Hynes, Jeremy Westlake, Louise Kavanagh, Anit Chandarana, Chris Harris, Fiona White OBE, Richard Harrison, Sam Caughey
