We're reducing transport carbon emissions with multimodal transport options in Europe. Last week, we announced our new #multimodal corridor, connecting Antwerp, Belgium and Istanbul, Turkey. The route combines #road and #rail. It produces approximately 80% fewer emissions than traditional road transport and reduces transit time from ten days to eight compared to road transportation alone. #ModalShift #Decarbonisation

The Government has set ambitious targets to grow the amount of freight moved by #rail in Great Britain which will help to deliver greater environmental and economic benefits. One single freight train removes up to 129 HGVs from our busy motorways and reduces carbon emissions by 76%. ❓ Did you know there are grants and discounts available to support rail freight services delivering modal shift and an array of associated benefits? Contact #Freightliner today to find out how these grants and discounts could support your business to move more freight on rail as well as help to achieve your sustainability targets. Thank you to the Port of Felixstowe for their commitment to Railfreight and helping to drive modal shift.
New Daily Rail Service at the Port of Felixstowe Hutchison Ports (UK) has welcomed a second daily service between the Port of Felixstowe and Widnes by GB Railfreight (GBRf), one of the country’s leading rail freight providers. As well as being the largest container port in the UK, Felixstowe also has the country’s busiest intermodal rail freight facility with services to 17 inland destinations. The port has three rail freight terminals and helps cut supply chain emissions by putting more containers on more trains to more destinations than any other UK port. In 2023 the use of rail at the port saved over 500,000 lorry journeys and over 100 million HGV miles alleviating congestion and improving road safety. https://lnkd.in/eRA-x_ZZ #railfreight #GBrailfreight

🌟 Key Issues for Rail Freight from a Legal Perspective 🌟 Rail freight plays a vital role in achieving Net Zero and boosting the UK economy. At Burges Salmon, its specialist Rail Group, with over 40 experienced lawyers, is proud to support organisations across the sector on a wide range of matters. Its expertise includes regulatory issues, access agreements, charging arrangements, and rights to compensation. For instance, it assisted the rail freight sector with regulatory arrangements for the ETCS deployment as part of the Digital Railway Programme. It also provides advice on ESG compliance, competition law, and health and safety. It collaborates closely with clients to deliver strategic projects across the rail infrastructure lifecycle, including planning, land acquisition, financing, construction, maintenance, and developing net zero solutions like rooftop solar and battery storage. As the industry evolves, the current rail reform agenda offers a chance to better meet the sector's needs. The government's ambitious 75% net freight tonne kilometre growth target by 2050 is a positive step. However, effective policies are crucial for achieving this growth. 🔍 Key areas it is monitoring: • Structural rail reform – Integrated Rail Body developments • Access reform – Impact on freight operators • Infrastructure investment – Enhancing network capacity • Planning reform – Supporting the freight and logistics sector https://buff.ly/46aFYcV #RailFreight #NetZero #UKEconomy #BurgesSalmon #LegalAdvice #RailReform #Infrastructure

🙂 We are so proud to have successfully received our first ever delivery of waste by rail using our existing rail infrastructure at Ferrybridge in West Yorkshire. Thanks to our partners SUEZ UK and Freightliner Group Ltd we welcomed the delivery of 700 tonnes of household waste earlier of this month. 🚅 Rail deliveries expand the geographic reach of Ferrybridge 1 and 2, lower transport emissions by around 76% and reduce local road congestion. The trial also highlights the potential for using rail freight to connect the plant to a Carbon Capture and Storage cluster, offering an alternative to pipeline connections. 👉 You can find out more on our website here https://lnkd.in/eiCJCef5. #enfinium #SUEZUK #Freightliner #WastebyRail #DecarbonisationHub #RailFreight
