Everyone I have spoken to about this organisation have been inspired, moved, and excited by it, and here’s a chance to be their Chair. Football Beyond Borders get alongside young people who are at risk of being excluded from school and use football to get to know them. But their approach is a trauma-informed therapeutic one, so the young people get whole life coaching and support not only to stay in school but to get a better a sense of who they are and the championing they need to find their way in the world. They’re now looking for a new Chair to support the work they’re doing with 3,000 young people each week across 50 partner schools. In all of the beautiful 5 years we’ve spent working with Ian Wright, he still manages to pull a rabbit out of the hat 🎩 Over the last week we’ve come to find out Ian Wright has been able to secure £12,000 worth of donations for FBB through both Electronic Arts (EA) & the Stick to Football Podcast 😱 We had no clue he was going to do this too 😅 We never take for granted the work Ian does to continually push FBB’s work to greater heights ❤️

When dreams become reality. ✨ FBB grad, Samerah, has come a long way. When we first met her, we saw a young person who was polite, thoughtful, and supportive. A young person who was respected at school. A young person with leadership qualities, but who didn’t make the full use of them. Part of our work with Samerah was to lean into those leadership qualities, realising the power she has to bring people on a journey with her. Last Friday, at our annual showcase, that potential was realised. Crowd of 500+ people on the biggest night of our year? No problem. Samerah held it down, interviewing the latest member of our family, Sam Kerr She guided Sam through our work, and got her to speak candidly about the importance of her mum as a role model in her development, as well as the value of having a trusted adults in your formative years. Keep shining, Samerah. You’re an inspiration to so many girls on our programme. ❤️

Look back to look forward. On Friday, we shared with you a snapshot of the last ten years of FBB. In doing so, we shared our vision for a Brave New World. A world defined by relationships. A world where no young person gets excluded. Thank you to everyone who turned out and ensured we had a packed house. And an even bigger thanks for all your support over the last decade. Here’s to many more… #BraveNewWorld

This Friday 7th June, we will be celebrating the impact of one of Nike's long-term community partners, Football Beyond Borders, at the Spurs Stadium. It's the 10-Year Showcase, supported by Nike and Electronic Arts (EA) FC. The FBB showcase is hands down one of my favourite events of the year, led entirely by the young people. Amidst all the noise surrounding the general election, there's nothing better than to be in and amongst the young people, hearing about their realities and their hopes and dreams, in their own words. I'd love to extend the invite to those of you that are interested to learn more about FBB and how the team are positively transforming the lives of young people up and down the country through football.
