Six weeks after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the UK's energy strategy aimed for ‘a power supply made in Britain, for Britain.’ Fast forward to today, and we're seeing a shortfall in meeting these objectives. Our Head of Government & Regulatory Affairs, Anna Bazley, explores the urgent need for a renewable-driven strategy to secure our energy future. Read the full insights here: https://lnkd.in/d_gGS7FN

Join the conversation: ENODA’s Paul Domjan, speaks to Edison Electric Institute’s Electric Perspective Podcast, live from #EEI2024. Paul alongside expert guests from Energy Impact Partners, Oracle & Deloitte, discuss the fundamental issues with the legacy grid, building system resilience, and how ENODA is redefining grid technologies to enable the clean energy transition. “The fundamental problem is that renewable energy produces bulk power, but it doesn't produce system stability. The historic Tesla Westinghouse grid was based on the assumption that at the top of the network, you had a large spinning generator that could vary its output to match load, keeping frequency stable. That system produced inertia that dissipated the distortion in the network and at the other end of the network, we would all live very synchronised lives, where our load behaviour was predictable. None of those assumptions hold any longer. “ https://lnkd.in/eEQKRC6A

Inertia has provided frequency stability since the introduction of synchronous generators in the first AC electricity networks. But as we increase the role of non-synchronous generation in the grid, we rapidly approach a system-stability challenge. In his recent article, ENODA Founder & Chief Government and Policy Officer Paul Domjan answers the fundamental question: How to Solve a Problem Like Grid Stability Full article 👇 https://lnkd.in/eEViyNy4
