We are still incredibly proud that Flower won the top award at Techarenan in Almedalen! We are especially honored that the esteemed jury, led by the CEO of Alfa Laval Tom Erixon, really grasped our vision of enabling the energy system of tomorrow in their motivation: “Energy supply is a critical issue for the industry and for the industry to enable the green transition, new innovations will be needed. With our choice, we want to reward a solution that is both unique, scalable, and has industrial relevance (...) the winners of the Teknikföretagen Industrial Award strengthen the competitiveness of Swedish industry while enabling increased investments in renewable energy. By reducing electricity price volatility, investments can be made that would otherwise not have been possible.” We’re grateful to our amazing team and supporters, as well as to Techarenan and the other great companies we met during last week. This award inspires us to keep innovating and moving towards our goal of becoming a thought leader in the energy tech industry. Thank you for being part of our journey! #Almedalen #EnergyTech #Innovation

Increased value for partners as Flower takes a seat in the big league. ♠️ With Svenska kraftnät‘s approval of Flower as a Balance Responsible Party (BRP) in Sweden, Flower now joins the top tier of energy actors controlling supply and demand for the Swedish energy system. The announcement comes in conjunction with the acquisition of a new battery park, the 4 MW BESS project Sköldinge, which will be in operation shortly. “This opens up completely new revenue streams for asset owners like wind and solar power producers.” – Emma Hellström, Chief Strategy Officer at Flower. 💡 Reach out to the team if you want to learn more about how you can unlock the potential of your solar PV, wind, demand response, EV, or BESS project.

A few takeaways (and one big win!) from Almedalsveckan ✨ Flower’s founder and CEO John Diklev and Marketing Director Hampus Jildenbäck joined the conversation in Almedalen, discussing energy flexibility and its importance for the future with leading voices from the Swedish energy industry. From the panel discussions and day-to-day interactions on site, a couple of things became clear: ⚡ The need for Swedish local flexibility markets is apparent, but a number of obstacles still hamper the development. These include low liquidity and profitability for energy actors as well as a lack of knowledge among stakeholders and policy-makers. Markets need to be designed and regulated correctly to incentivize participation in local flexibility markets, which currently isn’t the case. As a very concrete example of how this isn’t working in Sweden today, the talk around Almedalen is that the two Swedish pilot projects on local flexibility markets, Sthlm Flex and Uppflex, will be shut down shortly mainly due to the reasons mentioned above. Countries like the UK have efficient and well functioning local flexibility markets. As a quicker and more cost effective alternative to SvK expanding the power grid, looking at the UK for inspiration could alleviate short term grid congestions in Sweden. ⚡ Another tool to manage the grid congestion problems, flexible or conditional grid connection agreements, which are common in Europe, seems to be gaining ground also in Sweden. This could be a step in the right direction towards the energy system of tomorrow. And one more thing… 🏆 Flower was a winner in the Techarenan challenge in Almedalen, in the prestigious industrial award category. The award highlights Flower as the leading solution to push the industry towards renewable power reliance. Deeply honored and exciting to be selected from a group of such worthy nominees! #almedalen #flexiblepower #flexibility

Our founder and CEO, John Diklev, voices his thoughts in an op-ed in Svenska Dagbladet on the recently dismantled power connection from Sweden to Germany. “The Swedish government’s decision to reject the Hansa PowerBridge connection risks weakening Sweden’s export industry. Sweden here has the opportunity to take the lead in the energy industry and simultaneously protect Swedish consumers from price increases.” 🎤 Grab a hold of John at Almedalsveckan as he joins the panel discussion on flexible energy at Teaterskeppet stage on July 25, 2.15pm. #hansapowerbridge #flexiblepower #energytech
