📣 This week a fantastic event took place at easyJet, organised by our DE&I department as part of disability empowerment month! 📣 We were thrilled to host a session on deaf awareness and an introduction to British Sign Language (BSL). This session was led by Signature, the leading awarding body for BSL. It was a great opportunity to learn more about deaf culture and awareness. Signature provided invaluable insights on how to identify if someone is deaf and the appropriate terminology to describe deafness. But that wasn't all! They also introduced us to the language of BSL, teaching us how to sign common words and phrases. And for our aviation enthusiasts, there were some industry-specific signs too! We're proud to continue fostering an inclusive and diverse environment at easyJet, these events are run to be as a catalyst to encourage more conversations and actions to happen for both colleagues and customers. Additionally, we have attached some resources to this post for further learning on deaf awareness tips and BSL fingerspelling. We encourage everyone to take a look and continue this important conversation. 🧡 Thank you to everyone who joined us! 🧡 #DeafAwareness #BSL #Inclusion #Diversity #easyJet

This week we held our first Menopause at Work Day with the incredible Over The Bloody Moon team led by Lesley Salem and Leila Carter The session, focussing on menopause education and allyship, saw an amazing turnout of 230 colleagues joining us both virtually and in person. Menopause affects everyone, not just those who experience it directly. At some point, all of us will encounter its impact, whether through our own experiences or interactions with friends, family, or colleagues. Our discussions highlighted the importance of open conversations, promoting a community of care, and learning how to best support those around us. A special thank you to the panel members who tried the MenoVests provided by Over The Bloody Moon including James Cooke, Duncan Beckman, Peter Foreman, Francis Rawson, and Oliver Henry, and to the many others who stopped to use the MenoVest and VR headsets, gaining insight into the daily challenged faced by a perimenopausal woman. A thank you to Chanel Power our Health and Wellbeing Campaign Specialist for organising this event. We are excited to continue this important conversation and make a positive difference for all our colleagues.
