Last Tuesday the 25th, we hosted our first Design Leaders Community x WongDoody event 🚀 The Executive Design Leaders Path to #Innovation and Impact’s event featured a vibrant panel discussion packed with valuable insights and practical advice, moderated by the DLC’s founder, Rob Magowan. - Design Leaders need to speak CFO—It's crucial for design leaders to bridge the gap between creativity and finance. - Train your team on business impact—a collective understanding fosters strong alignment between design and business. - Recognise the broader value of design—emphasising designing for good and inclusive design ensures our work is meaningful and accessible to all. - Improve Design Education—as technology and design tools evolve, we must future-proof education to equip the next generation of talent with the right skills for success. We have spent a considerable amount of time working closely with our Founding Members to develop a platform that truly serves its community. Taking this into account, there are still a few members remaining for us to introduce to you... Abby Godee is an innovation and experience design leader with over 25 years in consulting and corporate management across Silicon Valley and Europe. She specialises in breaking down disciplinary and organisational silos to foster customer-focused solutions that drive market performance. With expertise spanning healthcare, telecom, and financial services, Abby has helped companies transition from traditional product and service models to future-focused, customer-centric solution providers. Today, Abby and her team are reshaping the way Experience and Design will continue to create human impact as the disciplines transform through AI. Currently at Publicis Sapient, Abby previously drove human-centric innovation and design at Deloitte and led the design of consumer and healthcare experiences at Philips. She has also held leadership roles at Frog Design and Smart Design. Her work focuses on leveraging technology, design, and research to develop digital service strategies and value propositions, creating new business opportunities within complex ecosystems.

Leading by Design: The Executive Design Leaders Path to Innovation and Impact. We will be holding our first in person London event on the 25th June based in Shoreditch. We are keen to bring a wider perspective to the event so we would like to extend an invite to exective leaders based in London/UK who aren’t yet a member of the community. It is important that you are responsible for the overall strategy and direction for design within your organisation. We have 25 places available. The event will consist of networking, a Panel discussion / Q&A with Ralf Gehrig Chief Experience Officer (Wongdoody) with Roger Rohatgi VP, Global Head of Design (BP), Ellie Runcie Chief Design Officer (BBC) and Heather Winkle Chief Design Officer (Former McAfee, Capital One, Apple). Following the panel discussion, we will be holding a round table session. Topic - "Integrating Design Thinking into the Organisational Strategy: Challenges and Opportunities" We will pick one or two to discuss Best Practices: Sharing methods that have successfully integrated design thinking into strategic levels of various organisations. Challenges: Addressing common and unique challenges faced by leaders when promoting design thinking in environments that may traditionally focus on other approaches. Collaboration Across Departments: Exploring how we can work with other departments (like marketing, engineering, product, and customer service) to foster a cohesive strategy. Metrics for Success: Defining and debating how to measure the impact of design thinking on organisational success. Leadership Development: Considering the skills and training current and future leaders need to effectively lead design-centric teams. Today we are introducing you to Michael Gunn, an accomplished leader in experience design, product management, user research, and innovation across multiple industries. He recently joined Cerence as VP of Product Design, where he will be leading the design team responsible for Cerence's next-generation in-car generative AI computing platform & applications. Over the previous 7 years, Michael served as SVP, Head of Global Products & Design at Dentsu Health, and Head of Design at two healthcare startups (Health IQ and Outcome Health). Michael also played a key cross-functional product design & engineering leadership role during his tenure at Motorola, Google, and Lenovo, where he earned 10 patents and shipped a variety of first-ever mobile experiences (including the Moto Display notification experience, mobile fingerprint reader, and the Moto Z modular phone ecosystem).
