About us
The official LinkedIn page of the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS). CSCS is the leading skills certification scheme within the UK construction industry. CSCS cards provide proof that individuals working on construction sites have the appropriate training and qualifications for the job they do on site. By ensuring the workforce are appropriately qualified the card plays its part in improving standards and safety on UK construction sites. Holding a card is not a legislative requirement and it is entirely up to the principal contractor or client whether workers are required to hold a valid card before they are allowed on site. However, most principal contractors and major house builders require workers on their sites to hold a valid CSCS card.

There are four types of card fraud – the third kind is advanced fee fraud. Often criminals utilise online and social media platforms to assist candidates in obtaining a CSCS card without having to complete the required exams. When an individual is duped into believing they will receive a card only for it not to arrive, this is known as advanced fee fraud. Individuals are required to complete the necessary qualifications and courses to gain a CSCS card and our Fraud Investigation team constantly monitor and take action to shut such operations down. If you're due to apply for, or renew, a CSCS card in 2024, remember there is only one official CSCS application service: CSCS.uk.com. While there are various third party organisations offering CSCS cards and other services online, they are often more expensive and usually charge high admin fees or other costs. These organisations are not affiliated with, associated to or approved by CSCS. If you are paying more than £36 for a card, or £22.50 for a CITB Health, safety and environment test, check that you understand what additional services you will receive, if any, and that you are happy to pay for them. There are only six months to go until all Industry Accreditation (IA) cards issued from 1st January 2020 will expire on 31st December 2024 and cannot be replaced using IA. If you hold a CSCS Supervisory card via Industry Accreditation (IA) this card will expire on the 31st December 2024. This is due to the updated Construction Leadership Council’s (CLC) recommendation that all construction industry card schemes must operate with nationally recognised qualifications (usually NVQs) in place for all occupations. You may no longer require a card because you have moved into an office-based role and/or no longer attend site regularly. You can find out if you still require a card, and what options there are to replace your current one, on our site - https://lnkd.in/eA6Gz8_v If you do require a card, the S/NVQ qualification DOES NOT require you to attend college and can be achieved via various methods such as On-Site Assessment or Professional Discussion https://lnkd.in/exhCEc5q. CITB grants are available for employers to support with the cost of qualifications.

What is a digital CSCS card? A digital CSCS card is the same as your physical CSCS card but is stored on your phone rather than in your pocket. Available and ready to use via the ‘my CSCS’ app as soon as your application is approved (if you are applying as an individual), digital CSCS cards show employers your photograph, construction qualifications, training and occupation as well as the expiry date of your card. If you are currently undertaking a construction-related qualification or training programme, which requires the completion of a minimum 30-day work placement, such as T-Levels CSCS offers the Industry Placement card. This card is valid for three years and cannot be renewed. The Industry Placement card does not lead to a skilled CSCS card but does show that you are on a training pathway that leads to a recognised qualification.
