We are absolutely thrilled to introduce George Metcalfe, our new Community and Platform Associate 🙌 George will collaborate closely with our community members and portfolio companies on our deal platform. Prior to joining Conduit Connect, George founded an EdTech start-up which he grew to a team of 15 after receiving investment from Tes Global. The start-up focused on supporting wellbeing in secondary schools and while there he led on commercial strategy, operations and fundraising. He has also recently freelanced as Head of Growth at another education start-up and worked at New Philanthropy Capital, a leading think tank for the social sector. Exciting news 🎉   The Conduit EIS Impact Fund is thrilled to announce our new portfolio company, Heatio, who have secured £2m in seed funding to drive net zero across UK homes.    Decarbonising household energy is a huge and wicked problem - right now, 20% of all carbon emissions in the UK come from residential homes, and more if one includes cars. Heatio’s commitment to making renewable energy solutions affordable and accessible for everyone aligns perfectly with our fund’s vision for a sustainable future 🌍🔋 This funding enables Heatio to launch its Energy as a Service (EaaS) subscription platform to help homeowners overcome the initial capital costs associated with retrofitting low-carbon technologies, such as heat pumps, solar panels and storage batteries. Peter is the Founder & General Partner at Kalytix Ventures and Global President at StrongRoom AI. With over a decade of experience in impact-focused venture capital, Peter previously served as Partner at Social Impact Capital (SIC), a prominent global impact VC firm in New York City. SIC, known for its top-decile returns, employs an “Impact Arbitrage” strategy to invest in high-impact ideas across various geographies and sectors. The firm is supported by notable VCs including Marc Andreessen, Chris Dixon, Peter Thiel, Phil Black, and others. Before his tenure at SIC, Peter was Head of Business Development at Real Capital Innovation, an investment tech platform acquired by Addepar and backed by 8VC and Soros Fund Management. His career began in Silicon Valley with the founding of an early-stage venture capital firm, Kalytix Partners, focused on AI applications and institutional investor strategy, which was later acquired. Peter is a recognized theorist in private market impact investments, having led research collaborations with Oxford University, Stanford University, Planet Heritage, and White Sand Investor Group. His influential publications include "Impact Investments: A Call for (Re)orientation" (2021), endorsed by the SEC and G7, and "Sovereign Development Funds" (2018), featured in The Oxford Handbook of Sovereign Wealth Funds.
