☁️ What is C#, and what is it used for? CFG Ambassador Mariam Hussein FHEA, Software Engineer @ Slalom answers your frequently asked questions about C#! 🌟 Experienced in multiple coding languages, Mariam shares the differences and similarities between C# and other languages like C++ and Java, and her best tips for working with and learning C#. 💭 “I started my tech journey learning JavaScript and Python, and there’s a lot of flexibility with how you structure your code in those languages. However, I find the structure and conventions enforced by C# to be reassuring; it helps maintain consistency across projects and makes collaborating with other developers smoother.” 💡 ”Alongside traditional software development roles, proficiency in C# opens up avenues in emerging fields such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and Internet of Things (IoT). With cloud-native technologies like Microsoft Azure and AWS, C# developers can leverage their skills to architect and deploy scalable cloud solutions that meet the demands of modern businesses. “ Click on the link in the comments below 👇 to read more about Mariam’s best C# tips! #CFGAmbassadors #CodeFirstGirls #LearnToCode #WomenInTech#Upskill #UpskillYourself #CodingForBeginners #CSharpProgramming #CSharpDotNet

🎓 CFG Ambassador Sinéad Cummings, Senior Software Developer at Opencast, discusses the various steps she took to progress and develop her career in tech! 🌟 As a mother and career switcher from Biotech, Sinéad shares her best tips on balancing between gaining technical skills and leadership responsibilities in her role, as well as how coaching allowed her to gain more confidence in her role (leading her to present at a prestigious tech conference) and as a mother! 💭 “One of the ways I have found I can continue to pursue my own growth is by taking part in scheduled learning, like CFG Kickstarter Classes and MOOCs. Accountability is a great motivator, so if I am interested in learning something new but don’t know where to start, joining a structured course with live teaching really helps reduce some of that cognitive load.” 💟  “The tech industry is fast-moving and there is always something new to learn, but it’s impossible to learn it all, so I enjoy learning when I have the time and am kind to myself when I don’t.” 🤩 Want more insights like these? Did you know that only 42% of employees take advantage of upskilling opportunities at work? We believe that this has something to do with employees not being given the time and space to learn on the job. Research by the Tech Talent Charter found women are 55% more likely to report learning on the job as their primary method of gaining tech skills. In general, women undertake a larger percentage of the caring responsibilities at home, meaning that many aren't able to undertake self-led learning outside of work hours. This means that if employers are to build inclusive skills programs, they must do so championing flexibility and allowing for their employees to learn within working hours. For more top tips on how to build inclusive skills programs download our free report below👇
