Our new partnership with ape2o has seen the installation of an ultra-filtered water machine at London Marylebone station. The innovative water machine provides the public with the option of still or sparkling filtered water with 10% of every refill being donated to ocean, freshwater and marine life conservation projects. 🌊 The plan is for more of these machines to be set up at Chiltern stations in the future which will help reduce the number of single-use plastic bottles. The initiative ties in perfectly with our ‘Right Route’ 2030 vision and sustainability aims. #sustainability #water #partnership #station

We have enhanced our interpretation services by announcing a partnership with British Sign Language company SignLive Ltd. Customers travelling with Chiltern can now contact us via a British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter from the SignLive app. Using the app, customers can contact the Chiltern customer service team who are on hand to answer queries such as booking tickets, checking journey planners and booking passenger assistance. 🚆 The BSL interpreter will then relay queries back to us, which is crucial for improving accessibility for Deaf and Hard of Hearing customers travelling with Chiltern. We are determined to provide an inclusive railway for everyone and improving communication between customers and Chiltern colleagues is a huge step in the right direction. A great opportunity here at Chiltern working directly to me leading our Control, Resources and Special Events teams. The job holder will need to balance day to day delivery with developing the function as Chiltern grows. Resilience, a drive to make tomorrow even better and sense of humour essential.

As a key commuter and leisure hub on our network, we are very pleased to announce that work has begun on several improvement projects at Banbury station. The projects include the creation of new toilets in the lower ticket hall and the refurbishment of the café and overbridge area, creating a new Costa Coffee retail unit in partnership with Caterleisure Group later this year. The station will also undergo a full internal repaint in early 2025. In preparation for the first stage of improvements, Banbury has been deep cleaned by specialist contractors over the past three months. We are overjoyed to have taken home not one but two awards at the Railway Innovation Awards on Friday (21 June). Firstly, we won the Environment and Sustainability award for the Implementation of HVO Fuel in the Class 68s. Launching in July 2023, this was the first instance of Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) being used in passenger service in the UK. This was a big step in the right direction for our focus on delivering our Right Route 2030 vision. Secondly, alongside our friends at CGA Experience and CrossCountry Trains, we won the People, Skills and Diversity award for the CGA Empathy Lab. The lab tests the power of empathy training and by using immersive content, provides staff with skills they can use in conflict and emotional situations to enhance the customer experience. Thank you to lead judges and prize presenters (Jo Lewington BSc(Hons) MRICS and Adeline Ginn MBE), and Modern Railways for a brilliant day which honoured members of the Chiltern Railways team for their hard work and perseverance on these crucial projects. #UKRailInnovationsAwards2024 #railwayawards #empathytraining #hvofuel
