⚠ More evidence from Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) of the desperate and urgent need for safety by design in the online space to protect the world's children. 🚸 As Childlight - Global Child Safety Institute director of data Professor Deborah Fry argues, the impact of this horrendous behaviour on children and young people, continuing into later adulthood, can include negative mental health, physical health (including cancers, chronic disease and even early death), high-risk behaviours, subsequent violence experienced as both a perpetrator and victim (including domestic abuse and community violence) - AND negative educational outcomes, loss of employment and under-employment. #Childrencantwait

🚨 Today's Police Scotland figures showing a 21% year on year rise in reports of online child sexual abuse and exploitation are horrific but sadly not surprising. ❗ This is a hidden pandemic that has been pushed to the side for far too long because the reality is often too difficult to contemplate. 🤝 It exists because it is allowed to exist.
