For pride month we want to highlight one of the amazing LGBTQAI+ Charities we work with, Stonewall Housing Stonewall support LGBTQ+ people of all ages who live in the UK and are experiencing homelessness or living in an unsafe environment. Their teams specialise in Mental Health, Domestic Abuse, Substance Misuse and Supported Accommodation. Stonewall is one of our referral partners, this means they refer their beneficiaries, who are experiencing homelessness that are seeking training and/or employment opportunities to get back into work, referring their clients to our barista programme. One of Stonewall housing's beneficiaries, Haley, joined the Change Please Barista Training Programme after being referred by their team. Since starting, Haley has done amazing and has embraced every opportunity given – and we are thrilled that she has now joined the Change Please Marketing Team as a marketing intern. Read about Haley’s full journey here: https://lnkd.in/e4MaEx6V #changeplease #changepleasefoundation #referalls

We are delighted to announce that Cemal Ezel OBE, Founder and CEO of Change Please, has been awarded an OBE for his services to Social Enterprise and fighting homelessness. Cemal’s vision of tackling homelessness through the power of employment and selling great tasting coffee was born in 2015, and through his determination and dedication, Change Please has grown to make a significant impact to those experiencing homelessness across the UK and internationally. By always challenging the status quo to create a better future, Cemal has enabled Change Please to push boundaries and really make a positive difference in society. Cemal will always be the first person to tell anyone that Change Please is nothing without the team, our supporters and, of course, our trainees. None of the social impact happens without the dedication of all of those individuals. That is true, however we are all proud to be in a position to be able to make a difference as a result of his vision. From everyone at Change Please, Congratulations! We are so excited to continue this journey with you and help to make more of a difference to those who need it. #changeplease #changepleasefoundation

We are thrilled to announce that our 2024 Q1 impact newsletter is now out. The teams do the most incredible work every day and we want to make sure everyone knows about it! Within this newsletter you will find interviews with key colleagues across the business, comments from wonderful volunteers as well as feedback from our amazing trainees. It's been an exciting start to 2024 highlighted by our first annual conference at Everyman Cinema, Kings Cross. The event saw our UK & Ireland teams meet with our International colleagues from France, the US and Australia! It really highlighted how far Change Please has come. We continue to go from strength to strength across both our commercial operations as well as through our Impact work. This week is National Volunteer Week! Our volunteering opportunities include being involved in workshops, providing one-on-one coaching and support to our trainees, helping with CV writing, preparing for interview, job boards & elevator pitch, working on the DFC buses and more. Here is what Sandra Agyepong, Resourcing Coordinator at Lexington, had to say about her time volunteering with us, “I really enjoy meeting new people and seeing the work they put into it for a new start in life. It is admirable to see so much resilience and commitment. When volunteering at the workshops, it seems less transactional or business-like as the students allow us to be a part of their journey that could hopefully lead to employment. As a recruiter, we most likely see the “finished product” if I may say, when there is so much more going on beforehand. I want to think that we manage to give the trainees a bit more self-confidence or reassurance by giving them some tricks for interviews. I also want them to understand that setbacks are not failures when you see the bigger picture, it’s a learning curve. They have so much more to offer than they think, what they went through makes them richer in life experience than most.” For further details or if you would like to get involved, please get in touch with volunteer@changeplease.org We want to thank everyone who continues to volunteer with us as without you we wouldn’t be able to offer some of the essential services our trainees need to get back into the world of work.  Apex Hotels Auditel (U.K.) Limited Everyman Lexington WeWork Sodexo David Lloyd Clubs Connect Vending Networkrail ProudHR Mitie #volunteerweek #changeplease #changepleasefoundation

Celebrate World Environment Day with us! Join us today in raising awareness and taking action to protect our environment. Did you know that the UK disposes of 2.5 billion paper coffee cups annually? By switching to reusable cups, we can make a significant impact on the environment, one sip at a time. Our iconic Change Please reusable cup was created by Ecoffee Cup®, a company whose sustainable values align with our own. The reason we chose to create our cup with Ecoffee Cup is because they are: •Made from 100% plant-based material (sugar beet, corn and potato starch). •100% commercially compostable, resulting in zero landfill waste. •100% melamine-free, free from BPA, BPS and phthalates. •Look amazing! Purchase a Change Please reusable Ecoffee Cup in-store and get a free coffee. Available at all Change Please retail locations and online at changeplease.org.
