‘The only person who will be there 100% of the time is you, so take care of yourself and prioritise your health.’ 🌱 Wise words we can all heed from a young person in our Peterborough waiting room. #WaitingRoomWisdom

Supporting young people in Cambridgeshire with their practical issues and emotional needs since 1981.
About us
Too many young people tell us they have no-one to talk to. At Centre 33, we are here to listen and to help. We are a young people’s charity, working across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, specialising in supporting young people of secondary age up to the age of 25. Centre 33 was established in 1981 and still holds true to its founding principles of: - young person centred - services that are available to all young people on a self-referral basis - capable of responding to complex need - quality and good outcomes for young people. Our current values commit to being: inclusive and specialist, supportive and non-judgemental, collaborative and accountable. Our vision is that every young person is listened to and respected for who they are; and that they receive the support to enable them to be who they want to be. In order to do this, our mission is to support young people with their practical and emotional needs. We do this through delivery of safe, free, accessible and professional services that listen to, support and inspire young people to become who they want to be. We feel it is important to support young people with their presenting needs. The majority of the work we do supports young people to: • Be emotionally healthy • Be sexual healthy • Be safely housed • Be in employment / meaningful education/training • Have improved financial situations • Reduce the negative impact of their caring responsibilities (if they are young carers) We have five main hubs (Cambridge, Ely, Wisbech, Peterborough, Huntingdon) but also work within the community including local schools and community venues (such as libraries, GP surgeries etc.).

Could you host a tea party for a cause this summer? 🫖 It’s simple, throw a tea party, take a tea break, have a picnic or bake and sell some cakes, and raise money for young people by taking donations. ☕️✨ 🏠 You could do it at home 🏢 At work 🖥️ Online 🍃 In the park ⛰️ Or on top of a mountain Whether it’s a grand tea party or a quiet cuppa, the money you raise will go towards the vital mental health support we provide to young people across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. 🧡 Find out more: https://bit.ly/3Vjo9oj

Young carers and young adult carers tell us that they are often unaware of available support services for their emotional health needs. ❤️🩹 Once they are aware they find accessing this support challenging due to their caring roles. We also found that young carers and young adult carers want their own physical health needs to be supported and want opportunities to stay physically well via exercise and healthy eating. 🏃♂️🏀 This #CarersWeek we want to amplify the voices of young carers and share what they are telling us they need to live fulfilling lives. Collaboration among stakeholders is CRUCIAL for the effective implementation of these recommendations, leading to a more supportive environment for young carers and young adult carers, promoting resilience 💪, and enhancing overall wellbeing. 😌 Learn more from our Young Carers Voices Survey results: https://lnkd.in/e8pxHrWK

Our very own Becca from the Young Carers team has been busy touring the schools of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough this #CarersWeek! 📍 First up we delivered training on ‘how to make a good young carers referral’ to 20 professionals. 100% of attendees rated the session as excellent! You can find what training we offer here: https://lnkd.in/eAHDWYTa 📅 📍 Then a workshop at The Vine Interchurch Primary School, Cambourne with 8 young carers ranging from year 3 to year 6. Really super conversations had! Thank you to Mr Harvey (Young Carers Champion) for organising this session. 🙏 📍 Next up was Millfield Primary School who have 16 identified young carers - thanks to Mrs Lee (headteacher) and Mrs Sampson (Family Worker) for organising our Young Carers Voices workshop! 🌟 📍 A great session organised by Miss Jones & Mr Speller at The Netherhall School 🏫 📍 Then we were at Pathfinder C Of E School in Northstowe with over 20 young carers! Kindly organised by Young Carers Champion, Chris Christie ⭐️ ...and we're only half way through the week!
