Today Artelia UK celebrated its annual Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Day! To kick start the day Sybil Taunton, Head of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at RICS, delivered an insightful talk on ‘Building Inclusive Cultures in the Workplace’. Our lunchtime session included talks from our Diversity, Inclusion, Community and Equality Forum: ANG’s Jenny Cadwaladr (DICE) also gave a presentation on ‘Unconscious Bias’, Nikki Foley delivered a talk on the Importance of a Multi-generational Workforce and Chloe Pepler spoke about Disabilities in the Workplace. The day ended with a bang with the return of Jessica Peacock from Drax delivering a workshop on Inclusion by Design. #InclusiveCulture #Artelia #Belonging #positiveimpact

‘A head for heights!’ Well done to Christopher Pidwell who recently completed his abseil down the outside of the Lloyds Building in London. Chris raised a total of £315 for Maggie's Barts (City and East London) - the fantastic cancer charity that Artelia has been fundraising for this year. It’s that wonderful time of year again for… The JLL Property Triathlon. Last Friday at Dorney Lake, Windsor, the Artelia UK Team took part in 17th annual JLL Property Triathlon. With a variety of events like a sprint triathlon, duathlon and the 2.2K swim, It’s a fun and inclusive way for all ages and abilities of the property industry to come together, while raising funds for WWF-UK (Worldwide Fund for Nature) This year JLL welcomed over 3,500 competitors from more than 500 organisations and raised £189,000. At a client event last week, report authors Lewis Wright MRICS and Christopher Pidwell proudly unveiled Artelia UK’s Q2 2024 Construction Market Intelligence Report. The report, which includes industry surveys and an analysis of the latest economic data, shows that the industry is still experiencing uncertainty and issues around insolvency, skills shortages and high borrowing costs, with this week’s General Election also adding to the mix and curbing client appetite for projects. However, there are positive signs: the UK has emerged from recession, albeit a brief one, and inflation is now under control at 2%. The Repair & Maintenance sector remains robust, as evidenced by Artelia’s recent contract awards. With a competitive contractor marketplace and an improving macro-economic environment, coupled with the potential for the Bank of England to lower interest rates, now could be an opportune time for clients to reconsider and initiate projects that have been put on hold. Today in the UK, we celebrate Reserves Day. Reservists dedicate their spare time to serving in the Reserve Forces, effectively balancing their civilian lives with military duties. They are prepared to join the military whenever their country calls upon them and actively support operations worldwide. As signatories to the Armed Forces Covenant, Artelia fully supports our reservists in carrying out their duties. Yesterday in celebration of Reserves Day and the invaluable service provided by these armed forces volunteers, Richmal Hardinge (Associate), who is a Marine Reserve, provided a fascinating insight into what it’s like to be a reserve and the invaluable life lessons, experiences and friendships that she’s gained as a result.
