“I’ve worked with so many people and have made some wonderful friends that I’ll have for the rest of my life!” 💜 This week, we spoke to Rachel, Assistant Manager at the Age UK shop in Tamworth, who has been working there for 22 years. Rachel’s volunteering work began shortly after having children, as she sought confidence to re-enter the workplace. "Somebody suggested volunteering as a means of gaining a bit of confidence to go back into the workplace – but I loved volunteering here so much that I stayed!" This week we celebrated Pride at Age UK 💜 We were honoured to welcome Jocelyn Watson, a distinguished LGBTQ+ activist and writer, and Caroline Paige MBE, Chief Executive at Fighting With Pride - LGBT+ Military Charity and first openly transgender officer to serve in the British armed forces. We heard from our speakers and learning about their experiences and insights into advocating for #LGBTQ+ rights and supporting LGBTQ+ veterans. The event was honest and inspiring, and encouraged all colleagues to celebrate #PrideMonth as we continue to work towards building a more inclusive work environment where all colleagues from various backgrounds and gender identities feel included. #Pride #ProudToBeAgeUK
