About us
Advocate Art was founded in 1992, with a group of illustrators who liked the idea of having an agent but not the other things that o en came with that. We call our ethos four “F.A.C.T.s”: Fairness, Ability, Creativity and Trust. It’s about doing the right thing and being with the right people. We think our principles set us apart from conventional agencies, sticking to them has meant we have attracted the most creative illustrators and artists who in turn attract (with a little help) the best clients. The people we represent are perfectly able to conduct their own a airs but like working with Advocate Art because we o er value to them in the services we provide. Clients are assured that we represent artists that are like-minded professionals, pre-vetted and able not only to get the job done without fuss, but also to surpass expectations. It’s their choice to be with us, we have a high retention rate - with the most popular artists in our group being with us from the start! We were one of the first Agencies to give direct client contact with our illustrators, allowing creativity to flow without being diluted in translation. We were one of the first to o er re-sales as an important secondary income to artists. Now we have gone beyond that too, with the development of an on-line portal - ARTicle which enables artists to have transparency into the back o ice functions of the business, such as royalty management and credit control, amongst other things. Business is all about relationships, which is why we have a very high artist to agent ratio, clients o en use us as artistic advisors, project managers as well a trend forward resource for pre- qualified talent. It is for these reasons that Advocate Art has become the largest illustration agency around and I’d like to think one of the most respected but- we understand we didn’t get that way by acting like the biggest. Come and find out for yourself...

Check out our latest Artist Feature – Kevin Payne! After working as a teacher for 17 years, he decided to switch and become an illustrator. He still uses his education roots to engage with students and find creative ways to teach them new material. Kevin will frequently visit schools and hold workshops to share his titles. “I love every day of my job and being able to work creatively. I get inspiration from everywhere I can find it. I am also a poet and author so I regularly visit schools to work with children, which I feel helps me to keep an idea of what may work when it comes to creating new books. I've been fortunate enough to travel the world visiting schools. Talking to children about illustration and teaching them techniques has been very rewarding. I also include a lot of puppets and music in my workshops so I feel very lucky to have a wide range of creative ways to express myself.” Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eThp82ps

Welcome to the Woofmore! We are excited to share the release of Josh Cleland’s first illustrated chapter book and all the fun he’s had sharing it! "The first title in the 3 part series, Welcome to the Woofmore, was published by ABRAMS on May 21st. The book follows Rufus–a goofy, fluffy dog who is an assistant to the manager at The Woofmore, Ms. Coco–the manager, and Greta Garbark—the vip (very important pooch) coming to visit. To celebrate the occasion, Josh had a small book launch event at Green Bean Books in Portland, Oregon on May 19th. At the event he read from the first chapter and did some fun looking drawing demos. Recently on June 12th, he visited Rosedale Elementary in Hillsboro, Oregon, where he shared some behind-the-scenes sketches, talked about process, and did did drawing demos of Rufus, Ms. Coco, and Greta Garbark. We love seeing all the fun Josh and these kids are having! " Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eMChiVnN
