Calling researchers and evaluators interested in #WaterStewardship! As part of our Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) System activities, AWS has initiated a long-term independent impact evaluation programme to investigate the attributable impacts of the AWS Standard System. This is the first in a series of impact evaluation projects to be implemented in the coming years. We are now seeking proposals for Phase Two of AWS’s first independent Impact Evaluation, which will focus on #WaterGovernance using a large and diverse sample of sites. About us
AWS is a global membership collaboration comprising businesses, NGOs and the public sector. Our members contribute to the sustainability of local water-resources through their adoption and promotion of a universal framework for the sustainable use of water – the International Water Stewardship Standard, or AWS Standard – that drives, recognises and rewards good water stewardship performance. Our global structure enables us to act with local knowledge and expertise within a system that is guided and supported by our combined international experience. We have regional partners and local coordinators who work with the international secretariat to promote, enable and support water stewardship activity around the world.

#Pharmaceutical, #textiles, #foodandbeverage, and #ICT and #microelectronic manufacturing sites have completed Phase 1 of the AWS Impact Accelerator in India, with support from AstraZeneca, Gap Inc., Primark, Unilever, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages and other AWS Members. This achievement marks a positive step towards water stewardship in Chennai and Bengaluru with collaboration across various industry sectors. During the programme, participating sites have: 💧 Completed AWS Standard System Training 💧 Undertaken individual site gap analyses to understand what steps they can take to meet the requirements of the AWS Standard 💧 Taken part in workshops to understand a catchment status report and gained insights to help identify shared water challenges and opportunities in the catchment they operate in What is next for these sites? Those continuing to Phase 2 of the programme will take the knowledge learned in Phase 1 and turn it into action, starting with the development of a water stewardship plan. For those eager to learn more and join the upcoming AWS Impact Accelerators in Bengaluru and Chennai, please reach out to our Programmes Lead, Ashish Bhardwaj sending him a direct message on LinkedIn. -- #A4WS #WaterStewardship #AWSImpactAccelerator #India #Chennai #Bengaluru

To better understand the effects of the AWS Standard on catchments and watersheds around the world, AWS is undertaking an Impact Evaluation. Today we are pleased to share the Phase One results. In the study's first phase, over 50 AWS Certified Sites from across a range of geographic regions, strategic sectors and AWS Certification levels were included in a desk review. These sites were studied to understand how the implementation of the AWS Standard is contributing to the five AWS Outcomes: Good Water Governance, Sustainable Water Balance, Good Water Quality, Important Water-Related Areas (IWRAs) and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) for all. Download the new report 👉 https://lnkd.in/ekBFevcm Explore the initial findings below and how they will be used to inform Phase Two 👇 -- #WaterStewardship #A4WS #ImpactEvaluation #WaterAndBusiness

Did you know that ensuring safe access to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) for employees can yield multiple benefits across communities, businesses and supply chains? Yet, quantifying these benefits has been challenging – until now. The WASH Benefits Accounting Framework, launched at the AWS Forum and developed by CEO Water Mandate and WASH4work, offers: 💧A standardised approach to calculate socio-economic, environmental and institutional benefits of WASH investments 💧Alignment with other water stewardship accounting methods such as Volumetric Benefit Accounting 💧Tools to assess WASH intervention effectiveness and drive improvements As climate change intensifies water risks, companies must invest in climate-resilient WASH solutions. This framework helps build the business case for such investments. Water stewardship and collective action are critical to delivering Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6: Clean water and sanitation. But how do we effectively achieve the scale and pace needed? The answer: A new approach to drive solutions to shared water challenges. This valuable insight comes from the recent report, ‘Unpacking collective action in water stewardship,’ co-authored by experts from over 15 leading organisations in the water sector, including the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS). The publication, launched to coincide with the AWS Forum, outlines a framework for scaling water solutions, identifies 10 essential roles for effective collective action and proposes an innovative catchment-level basket fund model. It calls for a new way of working together as an ecosystem of freshwater solution providers, vital for addressing shared water challenges at scale.
