Period care with a conscience. Sustainable products that are better for our body, our planet and our sisters.

About us

&SISTERS by Mooncup Find us at our new home @Mooncupltd The home of plastic-free & irritant-free period care. Do you know what’s in your tampons? We do. We’re the period care brand setting the record straight on menstrual health. From first periods, contraception & fertility to menopause and beyond, there’s no topic that’s off limits. Period. Claire & Lucy, the Mother-Daughter duo behind &SISTERS were shocked to find out how few rules there are on the plastics, pesticides, fertilisers, fragrances and bleaching agents and how your body can be contaminated and poisoned by chemicals produced by these big companies. On a mission to rid the world of plastic & chemical-ridden mainstream ‘feminine hygiene’, we’re the UK’s largest plastic-free period care selection, and the highest-ranking B Corp certified period care brand worldwide in 2022.

Periods 🩸 Despite being a normal biological function, they remain shrouded in secrecy and stigma in workplaces worldwide. Every woman has experienced hiding a tampon up their sleeve to walk to the bathroom, or has felt awkward hiding cramps at their desk. This forces employees to suffer in silence, take time off, or even leave their jobs. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Forward-thinking companies are taking steps to become ‘period conscious’ - creating open, understanding environments where no one feels uncomfortable discussing or managing their menstrual health. To explore how your organisation can take action, join us for an insightful panel discussion next Tuesday, November 28th at 3PM GMT. Hosted by Beth Carter, Head of Growth at Flexa, and Lucy Lettice Cohen, Co-founder of &SISTERS by Mooncup Ltd. We’ll be discussing: 🤯 Shocking statistics on period shame in the workplace and its impact on wellbeing and retention ✍️ Simple, practical steps like providing free period products and menstrual leave policies 🩸 Ways to foster menstrual literacy and bust taboos through training and open conversations 🤗 How period-consciousness helps attract and retain talent seeking healthy workplaces 📖 Policies and best practices to support menstrual, reproductive, and menopausal health A period-conscious culture empowers employees of all genders and life stages. "Whenever I didn't smile, my male colleagues would giggle amongst each other and debate whether or not I'm on my period" 🙃 "I managed a team of 4 women, five including myself. We were hashing out a new project with the CEO and the discussion got a little lively. When we were done, he stood up and said 'Christ. I guess you're all on your periods today, huh?'" "I made a complaint about a colleague to my boss (a woman in her fifties). She told me I was being irrational because I'm on my period, and sent me home." "My boss has asked me, multiple times, in meetings with other people (typically other men) if I'm on my period." "A male coworker once told me, to my face, that no one will ever respect me because I have a uterus." "In my last job, I discovered that my male colleagues were tracking my periods on their calendars." "A management spot opened in our department. We were five women and one man. The guy told my coworker that she'd never get the job because 'women are bad bosses because they are emotional and irrational, especially during their periods.'" "A male coworker of mine complained that me keeping tampons in my locker was "disgusting" and he hated that he could see the box whenever my locker was opened. My boss told me that some men were really sensitive to "this type of thing" and that I should try hiding them in a different type of box so I wouldn't offend my coworkers." "I left work early because I'd been working crazy hours and felt sick, disoriented and generally grumpy. My manager greeted me the next morning, big grin on his face, and asked me whether it was because of my "monthly woman issues"." "I looked miserable and one of my coworkers asked me what was wrong. I didn't give any details, just said I was on my period and that my cramps were bad. An hour later, the HR director AND my boss approached my cubicle and gave me a verbal warning about being inappropriate at the workplace. I couldn't believe it." "We were told we’re not allowed to keep emergency pads and tampons in the bathroom because it’s unnecessary and unprofessional." "I once had to call in sick because of horrific period pain caused by endometriosis. My manager asked me whether I could finish my period before the end of the day so that I could be back in the office the following day." "While horribly sick from cramps and a migraine, I had a female colleague tell me 'cramps aren’t that bad. Suck it up and don’t be a wimp'.” 👉 Research by ActionAid UK shows that a quarter (26%) of UK women have faced period shaming. 👉 And according to a survey by WaterAid, 80% feel that they are held back to some extent by attitudes to periods in their workplace. This afternoon, our Head of Growth, Beth Carter, will be talking to Lucy Lettice Cohen, Co-Founder of &SISTERS by Mooncup Ltd to discuss how to create a period-conscious workplace.
