Qamaria Yemeni Coffee Co.

What: A Yemeni coffee cafe serving cardamom and ginger-laced coffees and teas, plus pastries and cakes. Founded by Hatem Aleidaroos and Munif Mawri, Qamaria roasts its coffee in Dearborn, Michigan and has locations in Michigan, Illinois, and Texas — this is its first Minnesota outpost.

Staff Meeting at Eat Street Crossing

What: A new ramen spot taking the place of Ramen Shoten at Eat Street Crossing food hall. Las Vegas chef Louross Edralin, a Season 4 alumni of Hell’s Kitchen, is serving a menu of Japanese curry with chicken katsu, kimchi fried rice, and twice-fried spiced chicken wings, among other dishes. (Staff Meeting offers chicken-based and vegetarian ramen as well.)

Fitchn

What: A new fast-casual restaurant from Joe Clark (a co-owner of the North Loop’s Cobble Social House) serving salads, grain bowls, wraps, smoothies, and fresh-pressed juice.

L2 @ Tii Cup in Uptown

What: The newest location of Tii Cup — a local chain serving boba, shaved snow, coffee, and Taiwanese street food — in the former Saint Sabrina’s tattoo parlor space. This new spot has a full boba cocktail bar, offering lychee lemon drops, Thai tea Negronis, and other cocktails served with sweet, chewy boba.

Ruam Mit Thai

What: St. Paul staple Ruam Mit Thai is up and running at its new Fifth and Wabasha location, after facing several months of permitting and construction delays.

Misfit Coffee

What: The newest coffee shop from local coffee company Misfit Coffee, now open in Minneapolis’s Harrison neighborhood.

Bom Día Treats

What: A new location of smoothie and acai shop Bom Día Treats in Minneapolis’s McKesson building. This is the second shop for owners Dennise Mejia and Mauricio Berti — their first is in Highland Park.

Chez Annalise

What: A new bakery serving CBD-infused scones, muffins, shortbread, and cookies (plus non-infused treats, too) in south Minneapolis.

Wakpa Bar

What: A casual, takeout-style pop-up bar on Owamni’s patio, serving bison birria tacos, bean dip with smoked walleye, smoked turkey legs, and snacky dishes like chips and salsa.

The Convention Grill

What: An Edina staple (circa 1934) back slinging burgers and malts after closing more than four years ago at the onset of the pandemic.

The Golden Nuts

What: A new Columbia Heights shop serving nuts, seeds, snacks, spices, coffee, and a kaleidoscopic array of sweets: Turkish delights, chocolate, dates, candies, and much more.

Starling

What: A new restaurant from Jester Concepts serving small and large plates with “cross-continental” influence — think butter chicken tacos, green curry walleye, and Balinese fried rice.

The Food Bank Eatery

What: A new permanent restaurant from the team behind the Food Bank Eatery food truck, serving catfish, Philly cheesesteaks, beef Polishes, mac and cheese, and caramel cake, among other dishes.

New York Gyro

What: Lyn-Lake’s new late-night gyro spot, slinging halal falafel, chicken and gyro platters; cheese fries; burgers; and more.

Chilango

What: The newest restaurant from James Beard-nominated chef Jorge Guzmán, now open in the former Urban Eatery space. This menu features “Mex-Tex” cuisine — come for suadero and baja fish tacos; charred sweet potato enchiladas; and camarones al diablo over a creamy masa panisse.

El Taco Torro at Midtown Global Market

What: Midtown Global Market’s newest food stall, serving tacos, quesadillas, gorditas, burrito, tortas, and more.

Corner Coffee in the Quinlan Building

What: A new coffee shop in the former Coconut Whisk space in downtown Minneapolis, serving coffee plus breakfast and lunch dishes.

Minne’s on Glenwood

What: A new restaurant in Minneapolis’s Harrison neighborhood, serving sliders, loaded fries, creamy milkshakes, and more. (Save room for a side order of fried pickles.)

Chimborazo in St. Paul

What: A second location of Northeast Minneapolis restaurant Chimborazo, which is bringing its popular ceviche, llapingachos, and chaulafan across the river to St. Paul.

The Dive at Coastal Seafoods

What: A “divey” new bar and cafe from Coastal Seafoods in St. Paul, slinging hot dishes like lobster rolls, tuna smash burgers, Nashville hot soft-shell baskets, and oysters on the half-shell.

Wrap: Handheld Food Stuff

What: A revived food stall from the team behind Wrecktangle Pizza at the North Loop’s Graze Provisions + Libations, serving wraps (try a cold Italian wrap stuffed with salami, pickled banana peppers, and Flamin’ Hot Cheetos).

Keefer Court

What: The enduring Chinese bakery that Sunny and Paulina Kwan first opened in Minneapolis in 1983, now reopened under new owners at Eden Prairie’s Asia Mall. The bakery offers all of Keefer’s beloved pastry recipes, from Hong Kong-style pineapple buns to silky egg tarts, plus Vietnamese desserts like chè ba mau (a sweet tri-color bean dessert) and Vietnamese iced coffee.

Egg Flip

What: A new skyway cafe slinging Korean-style egg sandwiches heaped with beef bulgogi, Spam, or maple bacon and turkey sausage (among other toppings), drizzled with gochujang aioli. Egg Flip offers burritos and bowls, too.

Picnic

What: A neighborhoody cafe and bar in the former Clancey’s space in Linden Hills, offering charcuterie-style boards for grazing, plus sandwiches, soups and salads, hot dogs, desserts, and a few mains, like sausage lasagna loaded with fresh, tangy mozzarella. A snacky late-night menu features bites like smoked trout dip and pimento cheese; the wine list is sizeable.

Slice Watch Bar

What: The latest addition to the Slice Brothers’ pizza empire inside St. Paul’s Treasure Island Center.

SoYen Desserts

What: A brick-and-mortar shop for SoYen Desserts, Yen Fang’s buzzy pop-up, slinging cream-stuffed brioche doughnuts in flavors that range from ube Oreo and strawberry to pandan coconut and vanilla.

A Bar of Their Own

What: The Cities’ first bar dedicated entirely to women’s sports, now open in the former Tracy’s Saloon space on Franklin Avenue. ABOTO offers local beer on draft, a tight list of cocktails and mocktails, and a big bar food menu, feat. Caesars, smash burgers, kimchi carnitas sandwiches, fried pickles, and more, with women’s sports playing on all screens.

Pink Ivy Kitchen

What: The newest restaurant from the team behind vegetable-focused Advellum, serving delicated tuna tataki gem lettuce wraps, salmon burgers, and pineapple brown-butter cake in Hopkins.

Where: 712 Mainstreet, Hopkins

Diane’s Place

What: A landmark new restaurant for Hmong American cuisine, serving a banh mi-esque chicken sandwich on croissant bread; Thai tea French toast; a Spam and nori croissant; and an Asian chicken noodle soup, among other dishes. (Or swing by the pastry counter for a sweet pork and salted egg yolk croissant, or a tart calamansi raspberry Danish.) For the time being, Diane’s Place is open for breakfast and lunch, with plans to expand to dinner service in the near future.

Café Cerés at Wakpada

What: A new location of Beard-nominated pastry chef Shawn McKenzie’s bakery and coffee shop.

Where: 4605 Minnehaha Ave S., Minneapolis

Klassics Kitchen + Cocktails

What: The newest restaurant from Brittney and Gerard Klass of Soul Bowl and the Camden Social, nestled in Minneapolis’s Mill District, featuring a menu of Haitian chicken fettucini, spiced seared salmon on a bed of curried kale, and oxtail sliders. Brunch is served weekly on Sundays.

Toki Doki Burger

What: A new restaurant from chef Matthew Kazama, just next door to his Kingfield ramen spot, Ramen Kazama. Burgers — made with a Japanese-style meat blend — are the focus, plus chicken and tonkatsu sandos, served with shiso-dusted fries. Sake is served by the glass and the bottle.

Nico’s Tacos in Lynnhurst

What: A third location of local staple Nico’s Tacos, this time near Lake Harriet in south Minneapolis’s Lynnhurst neighborhood.

Rollicious

What: A new Dinkytown spot serving miso soup and Spam musubi; onigiri; sashimi; and hand rolls.

Where: 1316 4th St SE Suite 7, Minneapolis

Sunbean Coffee

What: A new Black-owned coffee shop with a “sun bar” of light therapy lamps designed for sipping coffee and catching rays. Owners Fred and Annie DuBose are brightening up the Standish-Ericsson neighborhood with a focus on mental health and community at Sunbean — this isn’t a get-in-get-out coffee shop, but rather a place to gather, to connect, to slow down with a pastry and a steaming macchiato. Sunbean made a point to open during Black History Month, noting on Instagram that less than 5 percent of coffee shops are Black-owned, even though coffee beans originate from Africa and are produced in large part by people of color. “We are excited to highlight and support the people and cultures who bring us our morning cup of coffee,” Fred writes. Sunbean will also be selling goods from local BIPOC and women makers, including pastries from Fruit & Grain.

Sunbean Coffee

Càphin

What: A Vietnamese coffee shop in the former Jinx Tea Bar Space, from owners Jenny and Savio Nguyen. The Nguyens got their start serving Vietnamese coffees like cà phê trứng (a traditional egg coffee) and cà phê lá dứa (an espresso drink laced with pandan syrup) from a food truck at farmers markets around the metro — at their new location, they’re serving the same creamy coffees and colorful ube matcha lattes, and also stocking cream-filled brioche doughnuts from SoYen Desserts and bao from Bao Bao Buns. Berlin

What: A moody new jazz club in Minneapolis’s North Loop, just next door to chef Dani del Prado’s steakhouse Porzana. Berlin, tucked inside a snug brick building, has a decidedly European feel — there’s a crescent bar in the back; textures of marble, velvet, and brass; a small stage set with a grand piano, and a menu of potted duck confit, baked gnocchi, and baba au rhum from culinary director Jamie Malone of Paris Dining Club (and previously Grand Cafe). Ruby Langworthy, an alum of Young Joni’s Back Bar and Little Tijuana, heads the beverage program; general manager Jenna Schimdt came to Berlin from Demi. Check out the live music calendar.

Annie’s Parlour

What: The grand return of Dinkytown’s Annie’s Parlour, as reported by Mpls.St.Paul Magazine. After closing the restaurant in 2020, Annie’s owners Tony and Tom Rimarcik, sons of late restaurateur John Rimarcik, started discreetly serving takeout malts a few weeks ago. Expect a gradual reopening as they grease the wheels. An official opening date should be announced on Facebook soon, with takeout available until then.

Gia

What: A new women-owned Italian restaurant from Bellecour alums Jo Seddon and Lisa Wengler, serving a menu of sharing and small plates (artichoke and polenta fritti; bruschetta pomodoro), mains (Chianti-braised beef; shrimp bucatini studded with plum tomatoes), and desserts (affogatos; lemon tarts with cream) in southwest Minneapolis.

Irie Jamaican Express

What: The newest counter at Midtown Global market, offering a Jamaican menu of stewed oxtail, curry goat, jerk chicken, beef patties, and more from chef Zavion Hyatt. Sides of plantains and coco bread are a must.

Lulu’s Salsas

What: A St. Paul outpost of Lulu’s Salsas, a Mexican restaurant with another location in Brooklyn Park. Lulu’s has a counter-serve set-up and a menu of fresh tacos, quesabirria, alambres, tamales, chicharron en salsa verde, and more — even better, it offers a number of breakfast specials, including huevos divorciados and breakfast burritos.

Bebe Zito in Woodbury

What: A new suburban location of ice-cream-and-burgers hit Bebe Zito, serving scoops and specials like Okie burger/butter burger mash ups.

Brew Lab 101 MN

What: A North Loop brewery from New Mexico-based Brew Lab 101. Local brewer Ryan Woodfill (an alum of Canal Park Brewing Company, Lake Superior Brewing, and StormKing Brewpub) is at the helm; Brew Lab is also serving a New Mexican-style menu of heat-packed green chili and other eats.

Dario

What: A snazzy pasta-focused restaurant with a killer cocktail program from two industry alums.

Brother’s Cafe

What: An all-day breakfast spot in the former Vo’s Vietnamese space on Lyndale Avenue, serving American breakfast classics: pancakes, omelets, steak and eggs, the works.

Smorgie’s

What: Affordable comfort food with Midwest flair, served right across from St. Paul’s Xcel Energy center. Smorgie’s bar snacks, salads, hot sandwiches (think fried chicken, smash burgers) and mains (Swedish meatball bowls, tater tot hotdish, chili mac) all fall in the $8 to $14 range.

Bina’s

What: A divey new bar from Centro Restaurant Group, serving fun, funky Midwest bar fare: Wagyu butter burgers, ham-and-pickle roll-ups; deviled eggs; scotcharoos. There’s plenty of dive bar ephemera, a small-town-meets-city vibe, and a succinct cocktail menu of daquiris, espresso martinis, cowboy gimlets, and cosmos, all served next door to the original Centro.

Mr. Paul’s Po Boys and Jams at Malcolm Yards

What: A second location of chef Tommy Begnaud’s po’ boys and jams operation, serving po’ boys heaped with fried shrimp and crawfish, plus other New Orleans-style fare like gumbo, boudin balls, slushies, and mini “dough-nets,” a doughnut-beignet hybrid at Malcolm Yards food hall.

Revival Smoked Meats at Malcolm Yards

What: Carolina-style barbecue at Malcolm Yards food hall, from chef Thomas Boemer and Nick Rancone. This menu treads off the beaten path with sweet chili port ribs, burnt end burritos, and jerk chicken sandwiches. An order of the Jo Jo fries is a must.

Ono Hawaiian Plates

What: A Hawaiian menu of garlic shrimp and kalbi short ribs, Hawaiian barbecue chicken, and luau bowls with ahi poke and kalua pork in United Noodles Marketplace, from owners Warren Seta and Jess Kelley. That chicken katsu, pounded thin and tender and breaded with a crispy, golden bark, is winning hearts.

Parcelle Organics

What: The latest venture from chef Kamal Mohamed (Stepchld, Nashville Coop) designed for everyday eating. Airy and sleek, Parcelle serves sandwiches, bright salads, creamy smoothies, breakfast toasts, bento box lunches (think coconut chicken curry; Japanese sweet potatoes) all made with organic ingredients.

Bûcheron

What: A new French American bistro from Jeanie and Adam Ritter, both alums of Gavin Kaysen’s restaurants Bellecour and Demi, respectively. This menu emulates France’s bistronomy movement by merging fine dining techniques with essential dishes like venison tartare, grilled carrots in yogurt, and sticky toffee cake. It’s wise to make a reservation, but seats at the bar and counter are held for walk-ins.

Muddy Paws Cheesecake

What: With the help of a $40,000 order from CNBS’s Marcus Lemonis, Muddy Paws Cheesecake has officially reopened, after temporarily closing earlier this month. Owner Tami Cabrera has launched a new website, but she’s serving the same creamy, scratch-made cheesecakes in St. Louis Park.

C.R.E.A.M. Cafe

What: A new coffee shop and cafe from Gerard and Brittney Klass, serving banana chai lattes and coffee flights alongside caprese flatbread, croissants, and hefty breakfast sandwiches. A sister restaurant, Klassics Kitchen + Cocktails, is coming soon.

What: Pimento’s newest, biggest location, with a full rum bar, ample seating, and a stage for live music, plus the usual menu of Kingston-style jerk chicken, slow-roasted jerk pork, curry veggies, and braised oxtail.

Andiamo Italian Ristorante

What: A third location of Italian restaurant Andiamo, serving dishes like spaghetti and meatballs, fettuccine alla romano, and pizza.
