Jacqueline Bisset
![Vanessa Bayer as Jacqueline Bissett on 'SNL' Weekend Update](https://cdn.statically.io/img/tvline.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Vanessa-Bayer-SNL-Jacqueline-Bassett.jpg?w=300)
No, not the real Jacqueline Bisset, just Vanessa Bayer’s impression of her. This spoofing of the actress’ 2014 Golden Globe win begins with Bayer in the audience. (Points for most unconventional Weekend Update introduction.) In a state of shock at appearing on Update, Bayer’s Bisset can’t help but caress audience members in disbelief and comb her hair backwards in last-minute preparation. Bayer deserved her own Golden Globe for that performance! (Watch the skit here.)
How could pete Davidson’s chad and Kate McKinnon crazy abduction lady not make the list. It’s those two for me.
Cause those aren’t weekend update characters.
Saturday Night Live isn’t funny anymore. More like teenager jokes at best.
HOT TAKE
Lmaooo
The inclusion of Bruce Chandling almost invalidates this otherwise spot-on list. Easily swap out for Kate McKinnon’s Cecilia Gimenez aka the woman who ruined the painting of Jesus. “Gimme my money!”
I miss amy, maya, tina, kristen, rachel.. :(
Any list with kyle mooney in it is wrong. And i have NO memory of #11. (Seems like you should, being that high in the list?)
Stefon was mostly great but occasionally inappropriate, such as when using the M-word (which Hader himself has expressed regret about). Here Little People of America is trying to spread the word against that word, and everyone’s sharing memes and GIFs using that word because of Stefon’s popularity. I’m not saying he should be ranked lower, he was still great, but the word was already considered offensive even then so I wish they had avoided it. And before anyone accuses me of being woke, it’s called respecting the wishes of others, or empathy, or the Golden Rule, any number of concepts that help us be better people that more of you should try.
Very poor order, and Chandling shouldn’t be there at all. But Good God, how could you leave out one of the absolute greatest–McKinnon’s Ruth Bader Ginsburg? You’re as amnesiac as Trump. And that’s a Ginsburn! (cue techno music)
Your post made me laugh, but technically, because The Notorious RBG appeared in sketches, she’s not WU-only.
For Kate McKinnon I would have chosen Angela Merkel or
Ruth Bader Ginsberg.
Again, not on Weekend Update or WU but as always great character job by McKinnon.
Baby Yoda would have been a great choice
Jeanine Pirro – Cecily Strong is one that should have been on the list.
I LOVED Jebidiah Atkinson! I’m so glad he made it on the list. NEXT!! I feel like Guy Who Just Bought A Boat should be on this list, as well as Kenan’s LaVar Ball.
Love Taran Killam!
#3 is definitely my favorite! Consistently funny!! She played that character perfectly!! Would have loved for them to feature that character more often. The rest of them mentioned, wasn’t a huge fan. But Strong was fantastic with every character she played!
There’s one obvious omission from this list: Laura Parsons!
What about the Guy who just bought a boat?! I remember him more than Goober the Clown!
I never understood why people thought Stefan was funny, but everyone seemed to love it. To me the jokes didn’t were not funny, it was just Bill Hadar laughing though it.
Leslie Jones as herself, the relationship expert. Absolute riot, particularly playing off the flirty banter with Colin.
Cecily should also be on at least one more time as Jeanine Pirro just for that very well timed wine shower she gave Jost.
I agree on both! Someone mentioned that maybe RGB wasn’t included because of also appearing in sketches… I don’t see any such qualifications listed in the article but if that’s true, maybe that’s why Strong’s Pirro was not counted – even though her bits at the weekend desk spilling were the best ones. And I loved Jones flirting with Colin.
Absolutely! Strong’s Judge Pirro was a riot. So much better than a few other ones included in the this list.
No Big Papí?!? No neighbor Willie?! Sacrilege!
You missed Vanessa Bayer’s Laura Parsons, that’s at least a top 10 for me. And also should’ve included Cecily Strong’s Judge Jeanine Pirro.
IMHO, 1 (Stefon) and 12 (Garth & Kat) are the only ones that were consistently good on recurring visits. 3 through 6 were OK, but really only funny the first time. The rest were one-shots or forgettable.
How about Alex Moffat & Mikey Day as Eric and Don Jr.?
I really liked trend forecasters and Cathy Anne. They were always funny. Still, I would have added Jeanine Pirro, Big papi and the Trump brothers to the list.
Melissa Villasenor’s Cesar, Colin’s limo driver, was funnier than most of these. I’d put Cesar at number 9, maybe higher if he made more than one appearance.
It’s a shame she left before she could bring him out again.
How Sarah Sherman made this list is beyond me. Her Weekend Update schtick is one-note and uncreative.
Agreed. Just awful.
Stephon was the greatest mis the bromance
Disappearing into Bill Hader’s entire back catalogue because of SNL – ❤️ Stefan/ Anthony Coleman / any content with Mr. Hader’s presence…
