NEW DELHI: Sonam Lama of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha won from Sangha assembly constituency with 1919 votes, as per the Election Commission of India.
Sangha assembly constituency, is one of the assembly constituencies out of the 32 present in Sikkim, located in the Sangha district of the state. Polling in the constituency was held on April 19. This constituency holds a crucial role in the state's political landscape, having witnessed significant electoral battles over the years.
In the 2019 Sikkim legislative assembly elections, the constituency saw Sonam Lama from the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) emerge victorious over the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) candidate Tshering Lama.The vote share in the constituency was 71% in 2019. Total voters during the previous assembly elections in 2019 were 3,293.
In the 2014 Sikkim legislative assembly elections, the constituency saw Sonam Lama of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) win the elections, while Palden Lachungpa from Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) came second.
The 2024 elections witnessed Tshering Lama of SDF, Sonam Lama of SKM and Tseten Tashi Bhutia of the BJP battle it out for the constituency.
