Gyalshing-Barnyak Assembly Election Result 2024: SKM's Lok Nath Sharma wins election

NEW DELHI: Sikkim Krantikari Morcha candidate Lok Nath Sharma has won from Gyalshing-Barnyak, and polled 5,612 votes compared to independent candidate Khusandra Prasad Sharma's 4,649.
Gyalshing-Barnyak Assembly constituency is one of the 32 assembly segments of Sikkim.
In the 2019 Sikkim Legislative Assembly elections, Lok Nath Sharma of the SKM secured victory with 5,862 votes, capturing 57.06% of the total votes.He defeated Laxuman Sharma of the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF), who garnered 4,048 votes, accounting for 39.40% of the votes.
The 2014 elections witnessed a similar contest, with Sher Bahadur Subedi of the SDF emerging victorious with 4,529 votes, constituting 50.86% of the total votes. Lok Nath Sharma, contesting from the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha, secured 3,890 votes, capturing 43.68% of the votes.
In the 2024 elections, held concurrently with the Lok Sabha elections on the first phase of April 19th. This election holds significance for the constituency, as it determines the representation and governance at the local level, impacting the socio-political landscape of the region.
