Srerampur election results 2024 live updates: TMC's Kalyan Banerjee wins

NEW DELHI: In Srerampur, there was a triangular contest between TMC's Kalyan Banerjee, CPM's Dipsita Dhar and BJP's Kabir Shankar Bose. ECI show that TMC's Kalyan Banerjee has won in the constituency.
The Srerampore Lok Sabha constituency went to polls on May 20 during the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, alongside other constituencies in West Bengal.The polling percentage of 76.44 was amongst the highest in the country.

In the 2019 parliamentary elections, Trinamool Congress candidate Kalyan Banerjee secured victory with a commanding lead, garnering 6,37,707 votes (45.48%), while the BJP's Debjit Sarkar received 5,39,171votes (38.45%), highlighting the Trinamool Congress's stronghold in the region. The voter turnout of 78.51% was recorded in the last election.

In the 2014 elections, the seat was won by Trinamool Congress's Kalyan Banerjee, further cementing the party's influence. Serampore remains a pivotal constituency in West Bengal's political landscape.
Demographically, Serampore mirrors West Bengal's diverse fabric, comprising Hindu, Muslim, and Christian communities. Hindu voters constitute the majority, followed by a significant Muslim population and a notable Christian minority. Additionally, Serampore has a substantial working-class population, contributing to the electorate's socio-economic diversity.
The Serampore Lok Sabha constituency includes the assembly segments of Uttarpara, Sreerampur, Champdani, Chanditala, Jangipara, and Domjur.
