Haridwar election results 2024 live updates: BJP's Trivendra Singh Rawat wins

NEW DELHI: The Haridwar constituency in Uttarakhand witnessed a closely contested election. Trivendra Singh Rawat of the Bharatiya Janata Party emerged victorious, securing 653,808 votes, which was 164,056 more than his nearest rival, Virendra Rawat of the Indian National Congress, who obtained 489,752 votes.
Umesh Kumar Patrakar, an independent candidate, finished third with 91,188 votes, trailing the winner by a significant margin of 562,620 votes.Jamil Ahmad of the Bahujan Samaj Party secured the fourth position with 42,323 votes, 611,485 votes behind the winner.
Several other candidates, including Balbir Singh Bhandari of the Uttarakhand Samanta Party, Mohan Singh Aswal of the Uttarakhand Kranti Dal, and a few independents, received votes ranging from 1,117 to 2,961. The NOTA (None of the Above) option was chosen by 6,826 voters, which was 646,982 votes fewer than the winning candidate's tally.
In the 2024 Lok Sabha election, Haridwar, a General category seat in Uttarakhand, saw an eventful political battle with a voter turnout of 59.7% on April 19 during the first phase of voting. The constituency includes 14 assembly segments—11 in Haridwar district and 3 in Dehradun district—and witnessed a heated contest among key candidates: Trivendra Singh Rawat of the BJP, Virendra Rawat of the Congress, and Jamil Ahmad of the BSP.
