NEW DELHI: Sivaganga is one of the 39 parliamentary constituencies in Tamil Nadu. It is comprised of six legislative assembly seats: Alangudi, Thirumayam, Tiruppattur, Sivaganga, Karaikudi, and Manamadurai(SC).

Sivaganga went to polling in the first phase on April 19. With over 16 lakh registered voters, it recorded a turnout of 64.26%.
Congress's Karti P Chidambaram won with a vote margin of 2,05,664 against AIADMK's Xavierdass A.

In the 2019 elections, Karti P Chidambaram of the Indian National Congress (INC) secured victory in this constituency, garnering 5,66,104 votes. H Raja of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the runner-up with 2,33,860 votes. The total voter turnout for this constituency was 69.90%.
In contrast, in the 2014 elections, PR Senthilnathan, representing the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), claimed victory with 4,75,993 votes. Dhurai Raaj Subha of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) was the runner up with 2,46,608 votes. The total voter turnout for this constituency was 72.75%.

In the 2019 general elections for the Sivaganga constituency, the Indian National Congress (INC) emerged victorious with 52.20% of the votes, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) obtained 21.56% of the votes.
In the 2014 general elections, the AIADMK led with 46.35% of the votes, followed by the DMK with 24.01% of the votes. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured 13.02% of the votes and Indian National Congress(INC) got 10.19% of the votes.
