Ganganagar (SC) election results 2024: Congress's Kuldeep Indora secures win from Lok Sabha constituency
NEW DELHI: Congress candidate Kuldeep Indora emerged victorious from Rajasthan's Ganganagar constituency with 7,26,492 votes. He defeated BJP candidate Priyanka Balan Meghwal by a margin of 88,153 votes.
The Ganganagar Parliamentary constituency holds significant importance in Rajasthan's political landscape. It encompasses parts of the Ganganagar and Hanumangarh districts.
The first phase of the 2024 General Elections, held on April 19, included voting for this constituency across 8 legislative assemblies.
The Lok Sabha Election 2024 recorded a voter turnout of 66.59%.
Congress has emerged victorious in this seat 10 times since the first General election in 1951-52, while the BJP has secured 5 wins. Interestingly, the seat has consistently been represented by Meghwal parliamentarians, starting with Pannaram Barupal and followed by Begaram, Birbal Ram, Shankar Pannu, and Begaram's son, Nihalchand.
The key candidates vying for this seat in the current election were Priyanka Balan Meghwal from the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and Kuldeep Indora from the Indian National Congress (INC).

In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, which saw a voter turnout of 74.3%, Nihal Chand of BJP emerged victorious with 8,92,744 votes, defeating Bharat Ram Meghwal (INC) by a margin of 4,05,147 votes. The Congress party suffered a complete defeat in Rajasthan during the 2019 general elections.

The 2014 elections witnessed Nihal Chand of the BJP securing victory with 6,58,130 votes, while Bharat Ram Meghwal received 4,09,199 votes.
This time, the BJP has adopted a new approach by nominating Priyanka Balan, their first woman candidate from the Ganganagar Lok Sabha seat. This decision signifies a departure from the party's traditional choices and may be an attempt to strengthen its appeal among voters.
The Congress party, however, maintains that there is a strong anti-incumbency sentiment. They have fielded Kuldeep Indora, an experienced politician with deep roots in grassroots politics.
Historically, Ganganagar's electorate has favored the BJP, with Nihal Chand Meghwal, a prominent figure, securing the seat five times between 1996 and 2019.
