Mumbai BMW hit-and-run: Excise department seals Juhu's Tapas bar where Mihir Shah drank 'Red Bull'
A bar in Juhu linked to the hit-and-run case involving Mihir Shah has been sealed by the excise department. Shah, accused of a fatal accident in Worli, remains at large.
MUMBAI: The bar located in Juhu, where Mihir Shah, the accused in the Worli hit-and-run case, allegedly had dinner with friends on the night of the accident has been sealed.
The excise department took action as part of a crackdown on the bar, following the emergence of CCTV footage showing Mihir Shah stepping out of the bar before the incident.
Mihir Shah, 24, is accused of hitting and killing a 45-year-old woman in Worli while driving a BMW at around 5:45 am.
Authorities suspect he was driving under the influence, though the bar owner claims he only consumed Red Bull that night.
The bar owner stated, “The group of four entered the pub at 11:08 pm. They had dinner and drinks, and left around 11:26 pm. Mihir didn’t consume any alcoholic beverage; he only drank Red Bull. Police are verifying these details by checking CCTV footage. The group arrived and left the pub in a Mercedes car. Our pub has no links with the car involved in the accident or its driver.”
Following this incident, the excise department sealed the bar as part of a wider enforcement action. Police have intensified their search for Mihir Shah, who remains at large. Six teams have been formed to locate and apprehend him. Additionally, a Look Out Circular (LOC) has been issued to prevent him from leaving the country.
Mihir Shah is the son of Rajesh Shah, a prominent leader of the ruling Shiv Sena party. Due to the high-profile nature of the accused and the tragic death of the victim, the case has garnered significant public and media attention.
CCTV footage from the night shows Shah stepping out of the Global Tapas Bar in Juhu, crucial evidence in the investigation. Police are examining all aspects of the case, including the possibility that Shah consumed alcohol before the crash.
