DHARMAPURI/SALEM: Water inflow at Hogenakkal waterfalls surged to 5,500 cusecs on Tuesday from 3,000 cusecs on Monday.
Karnataka authorities released a total of 4,554 cusecs, with 4,000 cusecs from the Kabini dam and 554 cusecs from the Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) dam. This was in response to the significant water inflow in these dams caused by heavy rainfall in catchment areas.
"Water released from the dams reached Hogenakkal falls on Monday evening and then flowed towards the Mettur dam by the following evening," stated a Water Resources Department (WRD) official.

Water level in Mettur dam rose by 0.57 foot in the past five days. On Monday, the water level was recorded at 40.05 feet. "By Tuesday evening, it had risen to 40.22 feet," the official said.
The dam’s full capacity of 120 feet.
