Cong demands rollback of GMERS fee hike
Ahmedabad: The state unit of the Congress on Monday demanded a rollback of the increase in fees effected by the Gujarat Medical Education and Research Society (GMERS) in all 13 colleges run by it. The Congress said that the hefty hike in medical education fees will deprive middle class and poor students from pursuing their dreams of becoming doctors.

Gujarat Congress president Shaktisinh Gohil told reporters that he has written a letter to the CM and the health minister, demanding an immediate rollback. “The NSUI and Congress workers will resort to an agitation across the state if the govt does not roll back the fee hike in the interest of middle class and poor students,” Gohil said.
Last week, the GMERS implemented a significant increase in annual fees for undergraduate medical courses. tnn
