I teach mathematics; also I taught computer science.
My PhD and most of my research in the 2000s was in universal algebra. In the 2010s I mostly concentrated on applying algebra to knot theory. Currently I apply reinforcement learning with deep neural networks to knot theory, including possible applications to computer vision.
Improving teaching mathematics is important to me, and I conduct research in mathematics education. In particular, I use and study an approach to teaching mathematics called Mathematical Mindsets.
