We’re thrilled to announce that Destination Asia received the 2024 Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Gold Award for Women Empowerment, recognising our commitment to empowering marginalised women in Bali.   For the past eight years, Destination Asia Indonesia has partnered with Bali WISE to provide essential workplace training and financial support. This initiative equips young women with the practical knowledge and skills needed to secure employment in the hospitality and travel industries. We’re also proud to share that several program participants now work full-time in our Bali office.   We look forward to continuing our meaningful partnership with Bali WISE and making a lasting impact in our local communities.

Over the past few weeks, Destination Asia Japan held guide training sessions in Kyoto, Kanazawa, and Takayama for over 100 guides. These sessions focused on the importance of service excellence, sustainable tourism practices, and key operational procedures. This week, Thailand authorities confirmed new visa regulations, making it easier for international visitors to enjoy longer, hassle-free stays. Our Destination Asia Japan team has been growing over the last few months. To welcome new faces and celebrate a very busy high season, the team has recently organised several social events to bring everyone together. As part of one of Japan's most anticipated annual traditions, members from our Tokyo office enjoyed a Hanami picnic in Yoyogi Park. They celebrated the arrival of spring while gazing at the cherry blossoms, a tradition that signifies new beginnings, hopes, and dreams for the coming year. The team also had dinner at a local izakaya, known for its delicious yakitori and lively atmosphere. These regular Friday meet-ups have become a great way to celebrate a productive week and strengthen team spirit!

Magdalyn Quek, Senior Manager, Meetings and Incentives Malaysia, had a busy few days in London recently. Starting at The Meeting Show 2024 with Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), she shared how Malaysia's vibrant culture, diverse offerings, and modern facilities, make it the perfect destination for meetings and events.   The trip ended with a co-hosted dinner at Victoria Bath House, where we were joined by other DMCs from across the UK.
