???metadata.dc.description.resumo???:	Este estudo objetivou conhecer as crenças que norteiam as atitudes quanto à adesão e preservação do tratamento em pessoas com diabetes tipo II, sendo utilizada como forma metodológica a abordagem qualitativa. Participaram da pesquisa, quatorze pessoas com diabetes tipo II, sendo utilizada a entrevista em profundidade, como instrumento de coleta de dados e a técnica de análise de conteúdo, modalidade temática, para seu tratamento medicamentoso. Através da análise, foram encontrados três temas de significação – A influência do conhecimento sobre o diabetes tipo II e suas consequências; as concepções, sobre os tratamentos e a relação entre médicos e pacientes, bem como, o papel da família, e da sociedade em relação à pessoa com diabetes tipo II. Constatou-se, que as pessoas com diabetes tipo II, possuem conhecimento teórico da importância em tomar os medicamentos de forma correta, e em conformidade com as prescrições e orientações médicas, ainda verificou-se que a família e o médico, são fatores determinantes na adesão e manutenção do tratamento.
Abstract:	This study aimed to know the beliefs that guide the attitudes regarding adherence and maintenance of treatment in people with type II diabetes, being used as methodological method the qualitative approach. Fourteen people with type II diabetes participated in the study, being used the in-depth interview as instrument of data collection and the technique of content analysis, thematic modality, for their drug treatment. Through the analysis, three themes of significance were found - The influence of the knowledge of type II diabetes and its consequences; Beliefs, treatments and the relationship between doctors and patients, and the role of the family, and society in relation to the person with type II diabetes. It was found that people with type II diabetes have a theoretical knowledge of the importance of taking medications correctly and according to prescriptions and medical guidelines, it was also verified that the family and the doctor are motivating factors for adherence to treatment.
