Grants and other funding activities

TDR funds specific research projects in diseases of poverty, which cover infectious diseases and the culture and environment that contribute to these problems. We also support the development of individuals and institutions in the countries where these diseases are prevalent.

Call for applications from research institutions to contribute to TDR’s efforts towards implementation research capacity strengthening

TDR welcomes applications from recognized universities or research institutes within the WHO European and Eastern Mediterranean Regions to serve as TDR Regional Training Centers (RTCs).

TDR Postgraduate Scholarship in Implementation Research

Eight universities provide Masters level degrees that focus on implementation research. Applications need to be submitted to the universities.

TDR Postgraduate Scholarship in Implementation Research - Academic Year 2025–2026

Deadline for applications: 15 August 2024

The TDR Postgraduate training will comprise modules relevant to a career in implementation research, a growing field that supports the identification of health system bottlenecks and approaches to addressing them. It is particularly useful in LMICs, where many health interventions do not reach those who could be benefitting from them. The goal of this training scheme is to strengthen the capacity of researchers to gather evidence-based knowledge using sound methodology to incorporate into policies and practices in LMICs.

The training will focus on courses relevant to a career in Implementation research with a focus on four major challenges affecting infectious disease of poverty using a one health approach; Epidemics and outbreaks; Control and elimination of disease of poverty; climate change’s impact on health; and growing challenge of antimicrobial resistance.
