Annual Convention Updates: What Students Should Know

The SPSP 2024 Annual Convention is fast approaching! Here is what student members should know to be prepared for the event:

 

Preconference Submission Deadline Extended to October 25

The submission deadline for Annual Convention preconferences has been extended until next Wednesday, October 25 at 11:59 PM PT. SPSP is excited to offer a wide array of virtual and in-person preconferences during this year's convention. Learn more on the SPSP website and complete your submission today!

 

Registration and Housing Portals Are Now Open

Now is the time to register for the Annual Convention and book your room in one of SPSP's hotel blocks! Visit the convention website and click on "Plan Your Trip" to learn about the hotel options and don't forget to register for the convention before January 5 to secure the Early Bird discount!

 

Watch This Space: Student Poster Awards Opening Soon

Each year, SPSP recognizes exceptional poster presentations during the Annual Convention with Undergraduate and Graduate Student Poster Awards. Applications for these awards will be opening soon after poster submission notifications go out. All poster notifications should be sent out by the end of this week, so stay tuned for updates on student poster awards!

 

Want to serve as a reviewer for this year's student poster awards and gain experience with the peer-review process? SPSP is accepting reviewer applications until October 31.

Become a Peer Advisor for SPSP Today - Apply Before October 27

Looking to gain experience as a mentor and connect with like-minded SPSP members? Apply to participate in the SPSP Peer Advising program! Mentors can hone their communication and advising skills while engaging with psychology students from around the world.

Would you like to showcase your research to fellow SPSP members? Apply for the SPSP Outstanding Research Award! The ORA honors rigorous and transparent research by graduate students, regardless of the statistical significance of the results.

Sign Up for October Free-Form Fridays and Submit Your Ideas

 

There is still time to sign up for October Free-Form Friday sessions! These small, virtual meeting rooms are an excellent opportunity to connect with your fellow SPSP members to discuss research, career development, and other areas of interest. This month's sessions include a discussion of podcasting as a tool for science communication, as well as a meetup for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and queer (LGBTQ) students and early-career SPSP members.

 

We are also accepting submissions from SPSP members who would like to host Free-Form Friday sessions in the future. If there is a topic you would like to see covered during a future session, let us know by completing the form below!
