Welcoming the New Editorial Team of Social Psychological and Personality Science

 

As of July 1, a new editorial team has taken over the journal Social Psychological and Personality Science. Learn more about them today!

#SPSP2024 Registration and Housing Are Now Open

 

Registration for the SPSP 2024 Annual Convention is now open! The convention, which will take place from February 8-10, will be hosted in San Diego, CA and include a virtual convention experience. Learn more about the event below and make sure to register before the Early Bird deadline on January 9!

 

Once you register, don't forget to book your hotel room! The SPSP housing block is now open and is spread across several hotels near the convention venue. A full rundown of housing options and links to reserve rooms are now available on the convention website.

Closing Soon: #SPSP2024 Preconference Submissions

 

The deadline to submit for #SPSP2024 preconferences is fast approaching. SPSP is excited to host an array of engaging virtual and in-person preconferences on February 7-8, 2024, offering deep dives into key areas of interest for personality and social psychologists.

 

Please note that the preconference submission portal will close on October 18 at 11:59 PM PT.

SPSP Seeking the Next Editor of Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin

 

The Promoting Inclusive Excellence in Publications Committee and the Board of Directors of the Society for Personality and Social Psychology have opened nominations for the editorship of Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin (PSPB). The editor's term is four years, beginning on January 1, 2025. The editor typically holds the rank of associate professor or professor (tenured or equivalent, e.g., senior or principal lecturer).

 

SPSP will be accepting nominations until October 13 at 11:59 PM PT.

The 2023 SPSP Summer Institute for Social and Personality Psychology (SISPP) just wrapped up and the SISPP Committee is looking for our next host institution! Be a part of this two-week summer experience for pre-doctoral students by hosting the program. By all accounts, the summer institute has been a success; student attendees and faculty instructors rave about the opportunity, and you can see that feedback below!

The American Psychological Association has reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling systemic racism and achieving racial equity through the launch of a Racial Equity Fund, seeding it with an investment of $1.1 million.

Sign-ups are now open for our October Free-Form Friday sessions, which include an introduction to Python programming and a meet up of the Disability Advocacy and Research Network (DARN).

 

Free-Form Fridays are small, virtual meeting rooms designed for and by SPSP members. Member Spotlight: Franki Y.H. Kung

Franki Y. H. Kung is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences at Purdue University. He currently serves as the department’s Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and co-directs the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Science Consortium in the College of Health and Human Sciences. He is also a past member and co-chair of SPSP’s Early Career Committee and a member of Reviewer Zero’s organizing committee.
