How can persons with disabilities (PwDs) access education and employment in Somalia? This was the central question at a national gathering organized by National Disability Agency of Somalia in Mogadishu. The discussion led to clear recommendations to improve education, employment, and social participation for PwDs: Establish more special educational needs (SEN) schools Ensure affordable assistive devices Advocate for the passage of the Disability Act Provide inclusive transportation and specialized teacher training Organize awareness forums to promote social inclusion Let's work together to create a more inclusive society! In #Somalia, UNDP's “area-based integrated approach” to stabilization aims at addressing all kinds community needs/problems, including road access, gender equality, governance, security, infrastructure, youth empowerment and sports, and social contact.
