Singer-songwriter

singer-songwriter is a person who writes and performs their own works. They often accompany themselves on a musical instrument.[1] Singer-songwriters write the music, the lyrics, sing, play the musical instruments, and often manage themselves.[2]

The term became popular in the 1960s. It referred to a specific type of performer who wrote certain kinds of music and lyrics.[1]
