Magento is an open-source e-commerce platform. The software developed by Varien Inc. Magento launched in 2007.

In 2011, Magento acquired by eBay Inc.[1] In 2015, Magento 2.0 was released.[2] In 2018 Magento acquired by Adobe.[3]

Magento employs the MySQL or MariaDB relational database management system, the PHP programming language.[4]

The platform has been the winner of the “Best of Open Source Software Awards” and “SourceForge Community Choice Awards” several times.[5]
