In 2023, $32B was invested in climate tech, a CAGR of 23% since 2020. This is needed more than ever: June was the planet's hottest since records began, according to the EU Copernicus Climate Change Service, the 13th month in a row where that has been true. It's imperative that we continue to back the best-in-class founders who are disrupting extractive industries and working to restore nature. That's why we are proud to be supporting Systemiq Capital's Fund II, collaborative investors who do more than just deploy capital, but also provide knowledge, network connections, and more to build portfolio value. 💡 Read more about why we invested in the latest edition of our portfolio highlight at the Silverstrand substack ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gYqbpkiA Irena Spazzapan Jessica Stewart George Darrah YE Xi, Clive

One of the more commonly perceived effects of climate change this summer season? Its arguable effects on travels, with severe turbulence cases on Singapore Airlines, Air Europa, Qatar Airways, and Air New Zealand flights among others. (🔗 https://lnkd.in/e47w9x8Z, https://lnkd.in/dYcrB2zR, https://lnkd.in/gXZBZRZH) Unfortunately, the implications of climate change on nature go far beyond just increased travel risks. ➡️ Heat waves. The recent heat was highly alarming in places like the Middle East, Egypt, India, Southeast Asia, China. With the upcoming summer, summer destinations like Europe, Korea, Japan, USA, and Mexico may also experience dangerous level of heat waves. (https://lnkd.in/e4YRCkww) ➡️ Food security risks. Our daily enjoyments like coffee, chocolate, and orange juice are under threat. More importantly, price pressures thus world hunger may be exacerbated due to staple crops harvest failures and larger amount of food waste during transport. (https://lnkd.in/gMegkdGr) ➡️ Severe drought. Water scarcity is putting human lives and ecosystems into dangerous conditions. Agriculture is failing due to the combination of heat and water shortage. (https://lnkd.in/gJKu2kbF) ➡️ Wild forest fires. Massive property, biodiversity, and human health damage as well as the potential lives lost. Just in the recent month wildfires have threatened the local communities in Greece, California, Canada, claiming victims in India. (https://lnkd.in/gimsndgv) Many of these saw record-breaking occurrences just within the past month. This reality touches all of us, whether we are gearing up for our next summer trip or grinding through the heat at home, It may be a summer of changed perspective, and hopefully, one that finally pushed our world leaders towards rapid, effective actions. -- If you are an entrepreneur working to create nature-positive impact, including impacts to address the rise and effects of climate change through nature-based solutions and technologies, we want to hear from you. 💫 Ground-Up Initiative: Cultivating Sustainability and Community in Singapore! The Mana Impact team, along with some friends from Silverstrand Capital, had an incredible 3-hour workshop at Ground-Up Initiative (GUI) 聚友爱 . 🌿 We discovered their community-based organization, which has thrived for the past 16 years thanks to the dedication of volunteers and community involvement. 🤝Ground-Up Initiative is involved in a wide range of activities that promote sustainability in Singapore—from growing crops without chemical fertilizers or pesticides, to upcycling pallets into beautiful objects, and creating concrete tiles using crushed glass instead of sand. Led by our inspiring host Kwa, this wonderful community offers a unique farming sanctuary in the urban jungle of Singapore. 🏙️ Unfortunately, due to new residential construction, they need to relocate. They need our help to make this move possible. 🚜If you're looking to reconnect with nature and experience true human connection, join or support Ground-Up Initiative 2.0. 🌍 Together, we can ensure their legacy continues. Let's make a difference!
