After more than a decade as counsel in adjudications under the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act (SOPA), I look forward to the privilege of giving back and serving as an accredited adjudicator with Singapore Mediation Centre.

Thank you Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF) for having me over yesterday at your headquarters to speak to some of your members about restraint of trade clauses, training bonds, penalties and liquidated damages clauses. These are the hot topics in Singapore employment law, and the many questions raised during the Q&A session definitely testified to this. Almost 200 participants joined the seminar virtually and I learnt a lot about the experiences and practical concerns of HR practitioners as shared by their questions. I also learnt that you shouldn't need to have a green screen. Just have a green wall. Special shout-out to the veteran Mr Toh Hong Seng (Director, Industry Groups, Industrial and Workplace Relations) who moderated the session and made it a really fun experience. #singaporelaw #employmentlaw #singaporeemploymentlaw #litigation #restraintoftrade

Our Mathias Goh gave a presentation to members of the Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF) yesterday on Restraint of Trade clauses and training bonds. As employees and workers in Singapore become increasingly educated on their employment rights, our firm is seeing an uptick in the number of employment disputes that come through our doors and where we act for both employers and employees.

Our Mathias Goh was invited to speak on Channel 5's Talking Point about the recent layoffs in Singapore and the employment law implications. Other panelists include a HR manager, representative of the Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF) and retrenched employees. First national TV debut - Went live on Channel 5's Talking Point last night to talk about the recent layoffs in Singapore, the legal considerations behind a company's decision to retrench workers, restraint of trade clauses, and likely future developments in Singapore employment law. It was nerve-racking given that so much was going on (lights, cues, moving cameras, timers etc) but did that selfie with veteran TV show host Diana Ser make it all worthwhile? Perhaps! The only regret I have was not having the opportunity to say "Senator, I am Singaporean!" Shout-out to my fellow panelists who shared many perceptive insights and especially Grace Gumala who was brave enough to share her personal story of how she was retrenched.
