In 1870, Johan Jakob "Janne" Ekman, son of the founder of Ekman & Co, submitted the proposal to build a fish hall in Gothenburg. He thought that Gothenburg's fish market and fish sales deserved something special. Therefore, we have Janne Ekman to thank for the opening of Feskekôrka in 1874. Now, 150 years later, Feskekôrka has reopened after extensive renovation and we had the pleasure of enjoying a lunch at "Ekmans", one of the restaurants at the premises.
