I am a neuroscientist within the Manchester Stroke Research group. My lab is using zebrafish models to investigate disease mechanisms associated with intracerebral haemorrhage (ICH) - a type of stroke that is caused by spontaneous rupture of blood vessels within the brain. We do not fully understand ICH and unfortunately no specific therapies exist. In broad terms, my research can be divided into 5 themes:

1). Understanding the pathological and neuroinflammatory consequences of ICH.

2). Whole transcriptomic profiling to identify novel candidate targets associated with ICH.

3). Drug screening to identify compounds capable of reducing brain injury following ICH.

4). Investigating mechanisms associated with monogenic forms of haemorrhagic stroke.

5). Risk factors associated with ICH.
