Overview
Adam Aboobaker is a Lecturer in Development Economics at the Global Development Institute. He researches within the area of growth and distribution; in particular, issues related to class conflict and structural transformation.
He completed his bachelors degree (Philosophy, Politics and Economics) at the University of Cape Town. He has masters degrees from the University of Massachusetts Amherst (Economics), Université Paris XIII - Sorbonne Paris Cité (Analyse et Politique Économique), and University of the Witwatersrand (Development Theory and Policy), respectively. He completed his doctorate (Economics) at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Adam is interested in supervising PhD students interested in researching topics in the areas of growth and distribution, including within the following topics:
- Interactions between income distribution and sectoral structure/long-run growth.
- Consumption patterns, income distribution, and climate change.
- Wage inequality and growth.
- Structuralist, post-Keynesian, and neo-Marxian theories of growth.
