The 2014 Ebola virus outbreak is significant and primarily involves four African countries: Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Nigeria. As of September 4, 3069 total suspected or confirmed cases (1752 laboratory-confirmed) had been reported in these countries, resulting in 1552 deaths. Several American doctors have contracted the virus, and some have returned to the United States for treatment.
