The Flores Online MBA at Louisiana State University’s E. J. Ourso College of Business offers students a flexible business education with plenty of international experiences.
It’s a 42-credit program that can be completed in as few as 18 months, and it offers the same curriculum taught by the same professors as the traditional MBA.
“The Flores Online MBA allows students to earn a quality graduate education on their own timelines,” Leah Whitmire, associate director of the program, says. “This track has no residency requirement, and curriculum tends to be more flexible.”
THE CURRICULUM
The Flores Online MBA offers built-in flexibility allowing students to create their own schedule from year to year.
On average, students take around two years to complete the program. The Flores Online MBA consists of 14 courses that are each seven weeks long.
“Most students either take one or two classes per 7-week module, and we are flexible if students need to skip a module at any time during their tenure as an MBA student,” Whitmire says.
INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE
While the Flores Online MBA can be completed 100% online, students have the option to participate in international study trips for elective credit.
“By offering international study trips in our curriculum, we provide students from all tracks to meet and broaden their professional networks,” Whitmire says. “Lastly, the curriculum taught in the Flores MBA Program is of the utmost quality in every single track we offer to prospective students.”
Last year’s destinations included South Africa, Hong Kong, and Shenzhen, China.

CONCIERGE SERVICE MODEL
LSU wants to ensure its online MBAs feel a part of the LSU community.
Part of how they do that is through the concierge service model.
Flores students are assigned a learner concierge at the start of their program matriculation to help support students in their needs throughout their business education.
“This concierge serves as a point of contact through graduation,” Whitmire says. “They build relationships, answer questions, address concerns, work as a liaison between the student and various departments across campus, and provide support.”
It’s an engaging and supportive model that helps ensure Flores online MBAs are getting the resources they need.
“Through the concierge service model, LSU is providing a high-touch level of service to all online students,” Whitmire says. “This model builds relationships and engages the online learner.”
But the concierge model is just one of the ways LSU is working to improve the learning experience for its online MBAs.
“Additionally, LSU continues to build partnerships between various campus service offices in order to increase resources available to online students,” Whitmire says. “The high level of outreach and services provided to our online students enhance their academic experience and ultimately improves retention rates.”
