2 sprints to achieve visible improvements for the project and business? We take up this challenge and prove that the most urgent challenges can start working in just 2 weeks. Small steps forward lead to significant changes overall. 🔜 #softwaredelivery #softwaredevelopment #accelerationsprints

CTO and Co-founder at The Software House – the most highly recommended software development company in Poland according to Clutch.

A big question for today. How much can 2 sprints change for IT? My friends at the company keep telling me the CTOs, or Founders they talk to always struggle to find space for refinment or improvement. The conversation could end here. Like it often does. Deliver now, and maaaybe retro it later - you know how it is. 3 months for a major refactor that has been waiting forever? Stakeholders would prefer not to hear it. But you can try a new mindset. What if you break down one clunky improvements into one sprint at a time? Take a business or a product goal. Give 2-3 engineers space. Agree the sprint must end with a deliverable or an improved metric. Show the results to the Board. Maybe they’ll change their mind. There's a new sprint type we designed at The Software House to stop delaying refinement projects. I described it in this piece. I'd really enjoy hearing what you think about it. https://lnkd.in/gaNAGGQ3 #softwaredelivery #softwaredevelopment #accelerationsprints

The basic rule when building global products is ➡️ the clients' customers should be content. This is how it works and that's okay! It is possible to achieve this, but we should be aware of many problematic aspects associated with building global systems or apps. ➡️ Customers are often spread worldwide. We know this because we help implement several solutions for our partners who offer their services to clients from many countries. ➖ In such a case, we have to deal with zero latency – synchronization between the freelancer and the employer. ➖ And, of course, payment requirements must be on time and in the chosen currency. ➖ Law and data security also play an essential role – each region has its data locality. Cloud service providers often struggle with this. For example, not all AWS services are available in every country. First, check whether the system will work in a specific location. However, we have a little advice here. 😉 As Darek Dwornikowski of Worksuite said in one of the "Taby vs Spacje" podcast episodes ➡️ ❝ risks are either accepted or mitigated. ❞ #softwaredevelopment #cto #softwaredelivery

A week's sprint is enough to slash AWS cloud costs by 70% on storage and 50% on compute in a large company. If something works, let's not change it? Well, no. 🔘 This is when we should introduce improvements and optimize costs. Our business partner decided to go for it. Together with the client's 3D development team, we revealed gaps in the development pipeline and highlighted the importance of eventual cleanup activities. ➡️ We faced the challenge of creating Unity-based build artifacts converted into Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) for our client. And we made it. You can learn about the entire change process in the article ⤵️ https://lnkd.in/dUfAysmr. We achieved those results by reducing the number of instances used for AMI creation, consolidating build pipelines, and cutting down Jenkins workers required. The outcome of our activities is $32,000 in savings for our partner. 💪 #softwaredevelopment #cto #softwaredelivery

React Native as a solution to the problem of scalability, consistency, maintenance, and legacy debt issues? Yes. Just read this case. ➡️ Travelia, our business partner that provides a SaaS-based white-label mobile application for travel agencies and tour operators, saw stagnated growth due to issues with scaling two native mobile apps. They knew what they had to change and to achieve their goals: 🔘 release faster, 🔘 decrease maintenance costs, 🔘 improve UX in one fell swoop. There was one solution ➡️ expensive native applications had to be replaced with cross-platform frameworks such as React Native. Travelia let us spend 10 months rewriting the mobile app so that the software supports the company's present and future business ambitions. After completing the project, our partner reduced the maintenance costs by 40% for the mobile app and 25% for the production environment. And, what's more – user adoption is up by 31,6% thanks to the look and feel of the brand-new React Native app. 💪 Find the full Travelia's story: https://lnkd.in/dFB7q-Px. #softwaredevelopment #cto #softwaredelivery

Are logic and emotional intelligence combined what we need to combat overcommitment? According to Daniella Rhodes Lorenzo of Toqio – yes. The leader should know how to decompress IT's workload, even regarding ASAP requests. 🔘 Logic is for asking if an external request is a priority for engineering – or is it aligned with the commercial strategy. 🔘 And the department members' emotions are what a leader needs to embrace. You can't keep dodging them forever. The IT leader must know that the most significant influence on the team comes from direct contact with engineers and the ability to support their logical thinking. ➡️ https://hubs.la/Q02FNRGJ0 #softwaredevelopment #cto #softwaredelivery

Searching for the best talents for your team means constantly trying new things rather than following textbook rules. At least in the initial phase. ❝ It’s to test different strategies for hiring important with the support of the people and talent managers you hired at that time. ❞ What role does an experienced leader play in all this? Huss E. of 9fin gave us his approach. ❝ As a technology leader, I know when to jump in, and when to step back and supply the people and talent team with information that will help them reach the best candidate. ❞ #softwaredevelopment #cto #softwaredelivery

Pretty much every software product today has to be fast, secure, and compliant. When creating a product, you should always remember this. And keep in mind the client's additional needs, which should be examined in detail in the initial phase. Because as Bas Gijzen says: ❝ There's hardly anything better than features informed by your customers' actual needs. ❞ The whole interview with Bas and Remco Magielse from CM.com is available below. ➡️ https://hubs.la/Q02D__qj0 #softwaredevelopment #cto #softwaredelivery

The relationship slider involves connecting different people at different levels of building relationships with business partners. Each person in the team, from developers to managers, contributes to the process of cooperation and product creation. This benefits the project, the partner, and the team members, for whom it is another development option, even if sometimes it means going beyond their comfort zone. The readiness to meet people and the ability to communicate can be a perfect match – a project match. 😉 A relationship with a business partner means trust in a joint project and conversations about everyday life. ➡️ Every leader and manager should know that building professional relationships means getting to know people, not just "customers". And working together towards one goal. #softwaredevelopment #cto #softwaredelivery
