We support ambitious scientists of any nationality, driven by passion to pursue frontier research.
Informacje
The International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw was established under an international agreement between the government of the Republic of Poland and UNESCO and a dedicated parliamentary act of 1997, so it has a unique legal status in the Polish scientific system. For years, the Institute has boasted the highest scientific category (A+) in the evaluation of scientific institutions by the Ministry responsible for science, including the latest one in 2022. To strengthen its international position, the IIMCB joined the EU-LIFE alliance of 15 independent research institutes. This alliance works for excellence in life sciences, attaching great importance to the quality and integrity of science, while at the same time actively participating in shaping European science policy. The main research directions at the IIMCB are RNA biology and cell biology, both aimed at understanding the fundamentals of human diseases, which are the basis for creating innovative therapeutic and diagnostic methods. The scientific excellence which we pursue involves the implementation of ambitious research projects and scientific initiatives, and forming partnerships with leading research centers in Poland and abroad. To ensure that the results of this research are translated into clinical applications, the IIMCB is open to cooperation with the pharmaceutical and biotechnological industries. The well-being of the members of our community is paramount to us, thus the IIMCB follows the rules put forward by the European Commission in the HR Excellence in Research programme. The adopted Gender Equality Plan includes measures to take it a step further: providing an assuring and conducive work culture based on the respect for the principles of equality and diversity. In doing so, we enable all employees to freely develop their scientific and personal skills. Privacy policy: https://www.iimcb.gov.pl/en/privacy-policy

📢 We co-organized and participated in the iNEXT-Discovery Foresight Meeting in Krakow (July 8-10), which featured an important discussion on the revolutionary role of AI in structural biology. Experts agreed that while AI technologies, including advanced electron microscopy, are changing the life sciences landscape by making research faster, cheaper and more effective, they cannot replace traditional experimental methods. 🔬Prof. Marcin Nowotny of IIMCB emphasized, "The limitations of AI-based techniques mean that they will not replace experimental methods any time soon. However, they can greatly facilitate and accelerate research in structural biology. We do not know if computers will provide us with a cure for cancer or an elixir of eternal youth, but certainly new, increasingly powerful tools will make it easier, faster and cheaper to conduct scientific research, raising hopes for solving the most pressing medical problems in the coming decades".🧪 We sincerely thank⚛️Centrum SOLARIS for hosting this remarkable event and ⚛️Instytut Chemii Bioorganicznej PAN and⚛️Uniwersytet Jagielloński w Krakowie for co-organizing it. 👉Read the full story: https://lnkd.in/d53Vt3Es #ResearchMatters #AI #biology #lifesciences

📢 Unveiling the Mysteries of Heart Development with Zebrafish! 🐠 Researchers from Cecilia Winata's Laboratory of Zebrafish Developmental Genomics have decoded the transcriptome of over 50,000 heart cells in zebrafish embryos. This small fish is providing us with insights into the mechanisms of heart development, including the discovery of rare pacemaker cells that regulate heart rhythm and function. 💓 🔬 Utilizing one of the most advanced RNA sequencing technologies for single cells (scRNA-seq), scientists have profiled the RNA present in specific cells at various stages of embryonic development. This research, published in iScience, offers valuable knowledge that can be applied to human heart development. ❣ 📰 Read more: https://lnkd.in/d6dvxsbi #ResearchMatters #zebrafish #molecularbiology
