Maynilad as adopted the Hybrid Sewer System (HSS) concept to help boost its collection of wastewater coming from households that are not eligible for individual sewer connection due to their location in narrow alleys, easements, and other fringe areas. The HSS concept involves utilizing the drainage connected to the discharge outlet of residences to catch wastewater. Under this concept, the untreated wastewater coming from households will be intercepted by the hybrid system before it flows into the nearest body of water, and diverted to a sewer line for conveyance to a Maynilad sewage treatment facility where it will undergo proper decontamination before its release to the environment.
